I've been using Dropbox for several years first on Windows and then on a Mac.

As you had to delete cache files manually, I searched around and found a 3rd party app called "DBCC" (Dropbox Cache Cleaner). I've been using the Desktop app version for about three years now.

Two days ago I went to clear the cache and it failed for the first time ever. A search of Dropbox's help menu reveals that they've silently updated their software to auto-delete cache files after three days.

The folder is also hidden now (at least on a Mac) and in a new location which is why DBCC failed.

DBCC's developer says his app is now thankfully obsolete.
