Well, after years of trying to get around not buying AutoCAD, I've come to the point were it might make sense to have it around. My clients seem to want a quicker turn-around time lately, which is all fine except the guy that I typically outsource my CAD stuff to charges an arm and leg for rushed projects. Most of my stuff is pretty simple retail, commercial, and industrial 2D space planing and I figure I could get away with an older LT version. Looking around Ebay and such, there seems to be a fair amount out there with a pretty broad price range and some questionable sources.
So, if you were going to buy used or new but older (Not pirated) AutoCad software at a reasonable price, where would you look?? |

I'm a CAD Manager for an MEP Engineering firm and use AutoCAD exclusively. That being said, I can recommend ProgeCAD Professional which uses the IntelliCAD engine (an AutoCAD clone). Command syntax is the same, fully compatible, runs AutoLISP and is 1/10th the cost.

| AutoDesk has a free student version of AutoCad. It has all of the features of the full version, but it labels everything that was made with it as being made with an educational version. So you get that message written around the border of every drawing. It may not look very professional to some customers, but it gets the job done. |

go to http://www.3ds.com/products/draftsight/draftsight-2d-cad/ and download an absoloutley free 2d cad program from one of the leading software companies... it is basically autocad for nothing... |

Downloaded and installed Draftsight. This is exactly what I've been looking for (ability to convert different formats to various .dxf releases, without having to shell out cash for ACAD). Thanks! |
