HDR

I purposely chose these places to shoot based on the high contrast between the bright and dark spots to play with HDR.

Sorry about the watermark, I am using the trial version until I get a better camera that will do exposure bracketing to +/-2.  My camera only does +/-1.

You should try to get all portions of the photo properly exposed to get a good HDR.  In your case, you need at least 1 for the sky and 1 for the trees.  You have the sky down good, but your trees are not properly exposed.  I believe thats why your photo is a bit washed out.

I am trying, getting better, but I have a panasonic fz8, not the greatest, only has a -1to +1 exposure bracketing.

The first ones with the tree line and the sky.  The trees should be perfectly exposed in one of your shots and the sky should be perfectly exposed in the other.  These HDR programs use this to determine how to blend the images, thus if don't get each section exposed properly, they usually don't come out the best.

I find that +/- 2  does a better job for HDR.  Give it a shot.

I like the first one better as there is a more significant difference.

Here are a few HDR images I've taken/made in the last year:

All taken at +2/0/-2 exposure compensation.
