I am looking for "forsted acrylic" or anything else you think I can put on top of my light box I am building. I tried Home Depot and Lowes and neither carry it. Where can I get a 2'x4' 1/4" piece of this stuff?

You using this as a diffuser?

Lots of other options, like ripstop nylon that you can get in a fabric store, or even a frosted shower curtain.

No, I am, building a wooden box and want to put a frosted piece of acrylic, plexiglass etc, so I can take photos of items on top of it.

Will look kind of like this:

another option is to stretch some white cloth over the top; you'll get the same effect without the glare.

I believe Piedmont Plastics in Tucker, GA has what your looking for.

I'm pretty sure that's who we have used before for light tables.
