I need to buy a new digital camera. I'm looking for 3 things 1) Super Excellent Extreme photo capabilties 2) compact size 3) ease of syncing with my PC What do you guys say? I certainly appreciate the help. |
Can you quantify this requirement? "Super Excellent Extreme photo capabilities" and compact size don't necessarily go together. The Nikon D40x is a pretty small DSLR camera that will give you outstanding picture quality compared to most point and shoot cameras. It isn't the most serious DSLR though, and I would only recommend it with caveats. Most all cameras connect to the USB 2.0 port on your computer and will show up as either a device or a mass storage drive. Easy. |
I want something that can take high quality, like an old style proffesional camera. I once had an Olympus OM1, everything manual, that too pictures that looked like postcards and if that camera hadnt broke, I'd still be using it today because I havnt owned a camera ever since, that could take pictures like that. |
For $300-400 look for a good newer or lightly used Nikon D50. The camera body itself shouldn't run more than $300. If there is a lens included, then the cost will probably be somewhat higher. The Nikon AF-S DX 18-55mm lens that is usually found in kits is a good one and pretty cheap. Less than $120, IIRC. $400 is a little tight for DSLR photography, but it can be done. Be prepared to spend more as time goes on! |
