First outing with my new Sony PCM A10 recorder, pulled Full Moon fever at Jones Fish Camp in Richmond, right on the James by the Huguenot bridge.  This thing is freaking tiny; it's like the engineers at Sony purposely designed it for stealth tapers.  Has 16 hours worth of on-board memory at 24 bit/48Khz and also accepts micro SD cards.

But probably the coolest thing is that it can bluetooth to an app on your phone, full control of settings from your smartphone!  All you have to do is power it up, make the connection, and then stick in your pocket, bag, case, whatever.

The only real downside is that it a non-replaceable internal battery, but one charge is god for about 20 hours of recording time.  And it that's not good enough all you need to do is take a little USB battery pack.

Looks like an awesome place.   I'm surprised I don't see more birds,... those spots are normally great fishing for them.  It's also nice to see fellow OCD sufferers who name files yearmonthday lol

Thanks!

Yeah, it's a popular park for good reason. You're right about the birds and there are frequently herons and cormorants in this area of the falls. I think I got there between shifts as I saw only one cormorant a bit downstream. Below is the wider pano I stitched from this vantage point. Going further upstream from here requires getting wet and far more swimming prowess than I've ever possessed.

...and date/time stamps in the file name makes it much easier for me to track files when I need to reference them by name rather than within the Lightroom catalog.

Nice. I've been to quite a few shows myself. I have two good buddies that were tapers.

A star trail composite over the Presidential Range from January of 2020 that I was never really happy with.  It was shot at 70mm with a my second camera body, pointed at the lower right corner of what I had framed in my main camera with a 20mm lens.

At 70mm, the gaps between the stars from frame to frame is significant when using the camera's built in intervalometer, which needs a 3 second pause between frames to avoid an insidious drop frame pattern that builds over time.

The gaps killed the image.  But, the series worked just fine for a motion time lapse in video.

But, I recently came back to this series and think I found a way to salvage the time lapse still composite image.

Oh, and it was 0ºF.  Which just really makes it hard to do much of anything well.

And, here is the broader view from the main camera...

Dug this print out and scanned it the other day.  7/2/88, Oxford Plains, ME.  My GF at the time shot it with her rig and developed it.  ETA I'm the guy in the tie-dye at bottom center.

The foreground bokeh almost makes it look like a tilt-shift lens.

Yeah, it looks like some scale model house sitting out there, doesn't it?

I processed it using some astrophotography plug-in.

This photo is old. It was just found in my moms stuff {rip mom}.

It was taken by her just before my father passed and his old pal hunting dog passes.  I've named it " Into The Light."

It just seemed a fitting name.

Oh. it's a scan of a framed picture.
