Found a 78-82 model Pentax K1000 (manual everything but exposure meter) on Amazon for cheap with a 50mm F/2 lens.
Dropped a roll of film off at walgreens to see if the light meter and shutter timing were on, I am happy with it. Walgreens film processing sucks though. 
Fuji Superia X-tera ISO 800. Just a burner roll to test the camera. Low res scans from walgreens, I need to get a scanner capable of scanning negatives. 
Missed the focus on this one. Hard to shoot something that likes to move with a manual microprisim. 
They trashed about 7 frames in the scanning process.

It's old tech now but I got one of the HP Scanjet 4890s off ebay a few years ago cheap and it makes excellent images. It comes with 35mm holder frames and works very well. I chose it because I had some large format 3"x4" negatives I found my grandfather took in WWII. It was the only scanner I could find that has a full moving light bar the entire width of the lid so you could theoretically image a negative up to 8' x 11".

Very cool! The K1000 was the first SLR that I actually owned. I borrowed others, but that was the first one I bought. I still have a few accessories for it in my bag if you're interested. Mostly small stuff like a cable release or a clock-work self-timer that screws into the cable release hole on the shutter button. I have an Epson Perfection V600 Photo scanning flatbed that works pretty well for negs and slides from 35mm up to 6x9. I wanted something a bit quicker and less dust sensitive so I bought a Polaroid/Bauer HD slide duplicator and one of these 35mm neg holders from ebay. I use it with a Sony a6000 and a Micro-Nikkor 55mm/f3.5 and a PK13 extension tube. I have less than $75 dollars in the slide duplicator and the lens/tube combination. I could also use it with my Nikon D90 but the Sony is easier to focus.
This slide was shot on a Nikkormat FTn with 50/1.4 back in 1969. This rig will also do color negatives that I can convert in the VueScan scanning software or in Photoshop Elements. ETA Nice camera and nice photos. |

Did everything arrive ok? One note - on the screw mount adapter, once it's twisted into the camera mount I seem to remember that there is a small leaf spring that locks it in place. Once the lens is unscrewed from the adapter, you can use the edge of a fingernail to unclip the spring and rotate the adapter back out of the camera body.
