[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Need new Lens...?

18 month old son dropped my wife's camera. It is a Canon Rebel XSi with the kit 18-55 EF-S lens.

Looking at getting a Canon 17-85mm IS 4-5.6 USM EF-S. These seem to be pretty widely available for under $200 on the used market.

Yay or Nay?

I say go for it. It's cheap, has a longer range than the 18-55mm

I have one in-bound. $187.50 shipped. Was supposedly hardly used (was said to be mounted on a backup camera and hardly ever taken out of the bag).

We shall see...
