I had a problem with the disk drive.  I logged on to the Sony PS3 website, filled out an online form, and they sent over the shipping material.  Packed up my PS3 and sent it back.  Had my PS3 back in perfect order within a couple of weeks.  No charge.

have no experience doing this myself, but some friends of mine claim that if you have issues with the disc drive, its fairly easy to buy one and replace it yourself...

might be worth looking into, supposedly its just "plug and play" if you have the right parts..

All game discs, or one particular one?

If it's one particular one, it's the disc. Make sure it's clean, no smudges or anything, and make sure there are no cracks. Surface scratches are usually fine, but an actual crack, even a small one, can be catastrophic if it's in the wrong place.
