I know its been said several times before, but I'm saying it again.
FUCK MICROSOFT "Sorry sir your warranty has expired" If it was not for Splinter Cell conviction, and a few other games I'd buy a PS3 and be done with it... ![]() |
|
Yea FUCK THEM those faggots not extending a warranty that is clearly stated as a certain amount of time! How dare they not fix a problem when your warranty has expired, and then, have the nerve to tell you your warranty has expired.
Because every other company with warranties just extends them for no reason right? And fixes problems out of warranty for nothing too? I'm glad it's microsoft to blame here. They obviously should insure their electronics for lifetime like so many other electronics manufacturers do... Oh, and you think Sony will fix and out of warranty PS3?

When its the difference between 100$ for a refurbished and nothing, of course I'm going to say fuck them. |

You shoulda told em it was a RROD, which is covered by the 3 year extended warranty. No. Because that would be lying. You wrap the fucker in every towel you can find and run it on a heating pad until it actually DOES RROD and THEN you call. Because that would be the truth. |
|
The towel trick does not work with mine.
I'm just getting a friend to fix it for 40$, and if that does not work, a new Motherboard and GPU for 100$. Rather pay a friend to fix it then pay microsoft another 100$ for a problem that A) SHould not exist and B) SHould be covered |

What does the length of time have to do with anything? The terms are whatever is specifically stated, not the time + a few days or so. On top of that, Microsoft already went out of the normal warranty and extended the red ring warranty to 3 years. You just want them to keep extending it over and over again? They recognized the problem, fixed the current generation, and extended the old warranties so others would get theirs fixed... What more do you want them to do? They are a capitalist company, they have to make money somehow. Fixing it when it breaks out of warranty is not a way to do that. I may come off like a fanboy, but I'm not. I'd say this about any company in the same situation. And you still didn't answer my question, do you think Sony would fix a PS3 out of warranty for 2 days? No. Neither would Microsoft (although, if you try hard enough I'm sure it can be done. I've had a friend get by on a week past warranty after whining and bitching enough) And continually speaking of Sony, there is a color issue with their TVs... That isn't covered by warranty and they knew that... However they shipped them anyways because, not covered by warranty, they don't have to fix it. Where as Microsoft recognized the problem and extended their warranty and fixed the issue. I'm just sayin. |

Granted not all of them RROD in the first place, I have a first gen 360 that still works perfectly (I did purchase a referb newer one for HDMI) and my 'newer' late 2007 360 refurbished I bought on ebay works perfectly. Never had an issue with either one. Well, that's a lie actually, my newer one does have a mix match of outer parts (new case, elite drive cover, white eject button) because I've dropped it a couple time hauling it around and the outer pieces cracked. But never an issue with internals or function. For a while it was literally uncased and running... About a week or so with no case and working fine. |

MS 360s had this issue from the start, and instead of ACTUALLY fixing it, or recalling, they extended the warranty to a shitty 3 years to somewhat fix an defect that has been in the system from the start. So I pay 350$ for a 360, then when my warranty is gone by 2 days, I have to pay another 100$ to TEMPORARILY fix an issue that should not have been there from the beginning? Bullshit. I have a friend, that is on his 4TH 360.... Okay, HIS FUCKING 4TH. All RRoD. Now, that is a bunch of fucking bullshit. Obviously Microsoft is not fixing these systems. Their putting the same shitty parts they originally did, that caused the problem in the first place. |

Their putting the same shitty parts they originally did, that caused the problem in the first place. Yea... That's right... No issues with the PS3. I forgot. Sorry bout that. You continually repeat this 3 year shit... What do you want? A 10,000 mile 5 year warranty on the damn thing? And about your friend and MS not fixing this problem. How is it then, that because your ONE FRIEND has to do it multiple times (yes, there have been others), does that negate the larger percentage of people who get their 360 fixed and never have a problem again, or never had a problem in the first place? Guess what man? There have been people who bought PS3 who NEVER got the overheating and freezing fixed and had to buy new consoles entirely. Just as there have been people with the same issue on the 360. I'm not saying either console is better than the other, or either company is better than the other, I'm just saying why all the hate for a MS? I see that you basically want MS to recall every 360 and put the new Jasper board in it and then warranty it for life... Well I'd like to be the richest person in the world and to eat my cake too. But it aint gonna happen. NO COMPANY in the situation MS is in is going to do a total recall. That would have crushed their profit. Then, so you could have a brand new xbox, a bunch of people go home without a job because MS lost so much money in a total recall. Yea, if the thing was catching on fire and killing people, they'd do it. But to fix a RROD? Hell fucking no. As for them putting in the same shitty parts that caused the problem in the first place, if there are consoles with said 'shitty parts' that work perfectly (actually a decent majority of them), then it is completely reasonable to continue replacing with those parts until the problem no longer exists. However, they should recognize that at 4 times, it's time for a new chipset. I can tell you that if MS played some bullshit on me 4 times like your friend (if it's true), I'd have a brand new fucking 360 with the jasper board. But alas, my consoles have had zero issues so I can't really comment. You continue to mention your warranty being out for two days. IT DOESN"T FUCKING MATTER your warranty is out. What do you want? The warranty is already extended. 3yrs for a console is quite a bit. PS3 is only 1 year. So say the PS3 has 1/3 the problems the 360 does (probably more like 1/2) you're still messing with fire and have a good chance of getting fucked. And you still didn't tell me, do you think Sony would fix a PS3 out of warranty for 2 days? No. Because it is out of warranty. That's how companies work in this big bad capitalistic country, they stop fixing shit after their very clearly expressed warranty period is up. Up. As in done. Not as in plus or minus a few days. Done. The warranty isn't 3 years and 2 days. It's 3 years. Exactly. The PS3 isn't 1 year and 6 days. It's 1 year. Exactly. But, this argument has gone much to far. You have every right to your opinion as do I to mine. So FUCK MICROSOFT (just for different reasons )

For the same reason Bushmaster and Armalite and Colt send out rifles that don't work or look like shit. Because they are a big ass company. Shit happens. In no way is Microsoft an angel either. Shit happens with them a lot. A lot more than other companies. But They've done more than they had to. They could be like Sony and TVs. Just fuck it and not even try to fix shit under warranty. Would you like that? |
|
You still don't get my point. There was a problem from the very start. They knew about it. I should not have to pay to fix said problem that has been there from the start. A defect, a problem, an issue
that shouldhave been worked out from the very start. I pay 350$ for a asystem only to pay another 100$ to fix an issue that should not exist. |

I have a friend who's on his 6th. Mine just gave up the ghost for the 3rd time. Had some money lying around, so I just went out and bought a new Elite, with the Jasper. Fingers crossed. (When Game Informer reported that their survey found that the 360 had a failure rate of over 54%, Microsoft didn't even try to dispute it.) |

If I had a PS3, i doubt this problem would be happening. You'd still have about a 1 in 200 chance of getting the YLOD on a PS3 if you had launch model 20GB or 60GB or the first 80GBs, or a 1 in 500 chance of getting it if you have the newer ones, and Sony won't fix stuff out of warranty, they charge $150 to repair or replace at their option if you're outside the 1 year warranty. Granted that most certainly is better than having a 1 in 3 chance of your Xbox breaking.

Microsoft's "fix" reminds me of the movie Tommy Boy:
Ted Nelson, Customer: But why do they put a guarantee on the box? Tommy: Because they know all they sold ya was a guaranteed piece of shit. That's all it is, isn't it? Hey, if you want me to take a dump in a box and mark it guaranteed, I will. I got spare time. But for now, for your customer's sake, for your daughter's sake, ya might wanna think about buying a quality product from me. |
|
Mine crapped out twice. Both times covered by the warranty, second time they replaced it. Warrantied til this year. The box was being used as our only DVD player too (wish you could set the sleep timer to something less than six hours). I'd frequently wake up in the morning to find my xBox had been running all night. So I'd say the failure rate was pretty good considering all the hours that were on unit.
I almost wish this one would red ring on me so I had an excuse to get and Elite.

Plus get off of your ass, well actually you dont have to, and go on the internet and read a 10 minute tutorial on how to fix it yourself. It takes 20-30 minutes to take it apart, fix it, andput it back together, I have fixed 5 friends 360's that have RROD'd and none of them have broken again. The reason people are on their 4th is that micrsooft adds another heatsink to fix the problem, but the problem is how they mount the heatsinks, not the heatsinks themselves. So they give them another oen that has already RROD's with a temperary fix. |

when my 3 years ran up.. instead of sending it to microsoft to fix for $99
I just bought a brand new arcade for $179. I made sure to get one with the new chipset which apparently they have finally fixed the RROD issues.. now running a much smaller/cooler 45nm chip/gpu. Figured i already have the harddrive, controlers, etc.. So for an extra $80 i got an xbox with the new chipset, HDMI output, and extra controller and another 3 years of warrranty.. Pretty damn good deal for the extra $80 if you ask me. |

I'm on my third console in 3 years.
#1 RROD. Lasted 2 years.Had Best Buy warranty, so I exchanged it for a new one. #2 E74 hardware failure.Lasted 1 year.covered under warranty.Sent to Microsoft. They sent back #3. #3 Audio completely went out after 1 hour of use on the first day I received it.Their customer service said it was probably the HD component cable, or I had hooked it up wrong. They said I would receive anothed cable in about 7 to 10 days. It's been 3 weeks.I bought my own fucking cable. The issue is not the cable. I work at Best Buy, in the warehouse.Part of my job is to ship defective items back for credit. In this area, Microsoft is #1.More 360s are returned and shipped back than all other game hardware combined.Every person I know who has a 360 has sent it back for repair or had their console replaced multiple times. Fuck you, Microsoft. Go Sony. |
