I have been playing eRepublik for a few weeks now and have been enjoying it.  I ran a search on the forums and have not seen any posts or discussions for it.  The website is www.erepublik.com  If anyone is interested in playing please send me an email and I will send you an invitation. They have changed the sign-up a bit to make it easier. You can enter http://www.erepublik.com/en/referrer/tluweyen into your browser and it will take you to the game and give me credit. I will receive some of the in-game gold and I will use some of it to help you out with gifts.

Thanks

Here is the snippit from Wikipedia:
eRepublik combines both social networking and strategy into a single massively multiplayer online game where players can participate in a variety of activities. Citizens of the New World can be employees, own businesses, form political parties, vote in elections, become party presidents, members of Congress or country presidents, write newspaper articles and even go to war as citizens of virtual versions of real life countries. The game has very few visual elements and is primarily text-based in nature.

Upon joining a citizen picks which virtual country he wishes to join. Each of these countries is named after an actual country in the real world, and is located similarly. The citizen then seeks employment at a company within that country, and is allowed the opportunity to train as a soldier for that country. Training, and working at a company is done on a daily basis by a simple click of two buttons. One of the main drawing points of the website is that it takes a mere "14 minutes a day" to participate.[4]

eRepublik Gold is a fictional currency used in the eRepublik World. It is the main reference point for all the local virtual currencies (examples: USD, GBP) and it is used to buy additional features (such as companies) within the New World. It can be obtained freely by reaching certain levels or achievements.

that actually sounds really cool.

what country are you in?  do you think arfcom could take over a nation's leadership?

now, the really important question: how well does it really work?  i've played ikariam (which was broken) and tribal wars (too time consuming).  i really like the concept of mmorts', but they usually take up entirely too much time and/or the implementation tends to stink.

I am still a newbie to the game but you can take several paths.  I am choosing to take the military path and specialize in the army.  It is hard to do it all because of money.  Some people enjoy the political side of it and others work to build their businesses.  It is pretty slow going at first but it has gotten interesting for me once I hit level 7ish.  It is as much of a time commitment as you want it to be.  If you go the political route it is more so as you have to write papers and gatehr support.

I am in eUSA.  You can choose whatever state you want but I would recommend you sign up for New Jersey or Florida to begin with.  They have the highest level hospitals which helps you get your health up quicker.  Health is everything in this game.  (well most games)  You can later purchase moving tickets if you decide to move to another state to run for congress or if you are looking to build a company.

I am still playing Ikariam.  I have found it tedious at times but they just opened up a new server (Xi) so most people are on a level playing field there.

I would love to have an Arfcom coalition on eRepublik.

I stopped playing... Kinda of a shame seeing as I was working for a very good company that kept raising my pay.
