My comp broke. Its not booting up. Nothing shows on the monitor. I changed the video card and it didn't fix it. Now what?

Check the monitor on another computer.

Can you tell if the computer is booting?  Hard drive activity light is a good indicator.

Does it still beep when you turn it on?

The monitor works, I'm using an old comp on it right now. I hear some beeps after I push the ON button, but nothing shows on the monitor.

what beeps? look up the beep codes for whatever bios your computer was using and figure out what its telling you. probably something simple like bad ram.

I got it running. I put the original video card back in and my comp works. Prior to this I got no beeps or image on the monitor.
I had replaced the original video card with a new one to see if that was the problem. But the new one didn't help. On a hunch I put the old one back in. The retainer screw was loose and I think the card had wiggled out of the mother board a little. That was the only problem.
The replacement vid card has a different plug-in. I really don't know if I had it connected correctly to my comp. Or, the new card is defective.
My comp is about 5 years old. Its a Pentium 4 3.0. ATI 9800 Pro video card. One G of ram. ASUS P4C800 motherboard. Its about the minimum required for todays games.

Mine is doing the same thing... Turn off the power switch, try to turn it on (drain all the power) flip the switch back on & try to power it up. Thats what i've been doing for a month. Going to newegg or tiger to order a new PSU tomarrow. Hope this helps...
