[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Left 4 Dead Error

Anyone else getting the "left4dead.exe has stopped working" everytime you try to launch the demo? I'm on vista and have researched the problem and it seems other vista users are experiencing the same thing. Unfortunately I couldn't find a fix anywhere... Would really appreciate any help, not even gonna bother buying it if I can't even launch the demo.

I used my steam account to download the demo, no issuses. Pretty cool game. I can see myself wasting a bunch hours on it when the full game is released.

BTW I am also running vista, I don't believe it is the problem. It just sounds like a bad download.

That is what I thought at first. I am using vista 64, so that may differ from you. I uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times, tried just about everything and no luck.

Highlight game in steam, then right click properties, list of options comes up.
1.Verify download option

2.Then defrag game cache

After done try to launch game again.

I found that it won't launch if TeamSpeak Overlay is running.

I ran it on XP Pro with out a single problem.
