Just wondering if anyone else has tried the demo, and wanted to share their thoughts?
The control system is a bit.....different. Not exactly confusing, but some of it is just not very intuitive, like the wall jump. But I figure after playing for a half hour or so it should come to second nature. From what I've played in the demo, I think they did a damn good job simulating the "feel" of the motion and interacting with the environment. Got me kinda pumped up, actually! Definitely a must buy, for me at least. Also really like the theme song, "Still Alive" by Lisa Miskovsky. |

I assume this is a different song that Portal's end song named Still Alive, performed by the antagonist...? As far as this game goes, I haven't tried it yet, but I might. The concept seems silly. Is the level laid out like a puzzle, and you have to figure out what path and which stunts to use, or is it really open ended, and you just go? |

It's this one. It's a little bit of both, actually. The overall path of where you need to go is planned out, as are certain methods of getting from building to building, but how specifically you navigate the obstacles of a given section are largely by your choice. Granted they give you "signs" (usually by highlighting certain objects in red) for an optimal path, but you aren't forced to follow them. How you deal with guards/police as well, you can just run up and stomp them, perform disarms to snag their weapon and knock them out, or grab a gun and pull a Hogan's Alley. The demo is free on both XBox Live and PSN, so it can't hurt to give it a try. I'll admit, the concept is a bit "silly", parkour + distopian future, but it kinda works. The EA/DICE team did an excellent job of giving the player a sense of reality to the substance and movement of the character....hopefully they've done the same to the story/game world. And what really does it for me is that it's a nice change from the usual FPS/RPG/RTS offerings. |
