I just got a X1800XT, and I am getting crashed when I play COD4. I just got the latest drivers. The VPU recovery system was kicking in during the game, so I dont know what to look at or look for to fix this. System is a Core2Duo WinXP home 2 gig ram Seagate and WD HD New 500W Power Supp. |

ATI suggests updating your chipset drives and flashing your bios with the newest version. Also check to make sure the card isn't overheating (can check temps in catalyst control panel). Also make sure your power supply puts out enough current on the 12v rail to meet the min specs on your card. Some people have luck with using drivercleaner (www.drivercleaner.net/ there is a free version out there somewhere) to wipe out all the catalyst software and just using OmegaDrivers instead. (www.omegadrivers.net/) I just went through all this with a X1950PRO. I had to get my card replaced... twice (The first replacement they sent me was worse than the card I sent back). Each replacement took 2 weeks... so try all of ATI's recommendations before you get an RMA. |

do NOT install driver cleaner. that was one of those programs that was nearly impossible to git rid of months ago. HORRIBLE malware my suggestion. 1. go to ati's website and download the latest drivers for your card so you have them handy 2. make sure you have this installed. .net 3. remove your current video card drives. reboot the system. 4 install the new driver and reboot when it tells ya too. 5. try the game i've used ati's drivers from there webstire for every computer i have built and NEVER had a problem as long as the proper software was instalelled and all hardware was good |

OK, I found out I had issues with the Aftermarket Cooler not geting the signal to ramp up the fan speed, so I have it a 100% now. Latest ATI drivers (CAT 7.11) Now the game plays, but I still get some artifacts, just here and there. Temp stays below 50C, so I dont think it is temp. |
