Anyone else buy COD4 via the www.direct2drive.com service ?

I see from www.codhq.com that there is a 1.1 patch out that solve some multiplayer issues.  I dl'ed the patch but it doesn't work on my D2D installed version.  I emailed D2D support and they didn't think there was a patch out.

Anyone install the 1.1 patch onto a D2D COD4 installation ?

Thanks for the try ZW, but that thread is about using STEAM to patch COD4.  STEAM is a different thing from Direct2Drive.

Freaking D2D is just SLOW is all.  I got a reply today from them, after reminding them that there is now a Patch 1.2 out as well:

"Hi there,

I’m sorry that you have been inconvenienced. We anticipated the release of the patch at the same time the retail version was released, but unfortunately we’re still waiting on it from the game developers.

As soon as we have the patch it will be posted on the patches page on Direct 2 Drive for download.

cruze:

I've gone back and forth with D2D all day about this issue.  They were aware of the 1.1 patch before Thanksgiving but didn't release a special D2D version since a ZIP version of the 1.1 works to replace the mp executable.

They said Patch 1.2 is going to take them a few days to release.  They have tried all EXE and ZIP versions of it they have found on the Net and none of them work with the D2D release.f

I'm still liking singleplayer so not THAT big an issue for me.  But I agree, geez, I'm sure I'm not the ONLY D2D customer who needs these !!!

This is precisely why you should never buy games from D2D. Their support is crap.

In the future, you should either buy a real copy (which ensures 100% support), or go through Steam if you want a reliable internet-based service. D2D frequently doesn't cut the mustard.
