Im not a huge fan of RTS type games.  Codename: Panzers Phase 1 and Star Wars: Empire at War are the first two that i've played that i actually liked.  Civilization 3&4, SW: Galactic Battleground, Dragonshard, Warcraft 3 and others i've tried put me to sleep.  I dont like the tedius collecting of crystal, wood, etc as with Warcraft 3,  But im truly enjoying C:PP1  What a neat WW2 treat from the bargin bin.  It has changed my views of RTS games.  SW:EaW is fun for the space battles, but lacking on ground combat-still better then previous SW RTS games.

What i want to know is does anybody here have alot of play experience with these type of games?

Are there any modern war rts games that play similarly to C:PP1?  Calling in airstrikes from an AC-130 or F/A-18 would be spiffy to watch if modeled right.

Im going to hunt for a copy of C:PP2 pretty soon.

How is The Battle for MiddleEarth 1&2?

The only RTS games I play are anything with Command & Conquer, StarCraft, Age of Empires, or Rise of Nations in their titles.

I havent tried empire at war yet, but I hear it is real good.

I was a Big fan of Westwood games... Since EA took over, last game they made was C&C generals and an expansion pack. I liked Generals but I was hoping they would make a new RTS.

I wish they would remake the original C&C & Red Alert (without changing things) so they would run on XP - those two were much better than the newer versions IMO.

You haven't seen the new C&C box edition?  Has all the C&C games and runs on Windows XP.

If you want an awesome fictional based strategy game Warhammer: Dawn of War is the one. IMO the best RTS out there as far as game dynamics. You get money for taking over territory, no mining required. Keeps things very interesting.
