We've been screwing around playing Aliens vs Predator II on the LAN and online at work, does anyone else play it? I think its probably the most fun and interesting multiplayer game I've ever played.....especially when you get a 4 way death match going between marines, corporate, predators, and aliens. |

War Stories... So tonight after hours Garyowen and I were playing AvP II online, and we had a lot of frustrated fun 1) One game it was humans against aliens. Normally Colonial Marines and Corporate are on different teams, but we talked people into cooperating and working together to frag the aliens because there were so many of them. (why fight your own species?). There were especially a lot of Praetorians so a bunch of us were playing as the coroporates so we could use mini-guns. Everyone was going along with it except for a couple dumbshits that insisted on fragging everyone...so of course it degenerated to a free for all again. 2) Garyowen and I were cooperating by finding strong points to hold out in and using fields of fire to slaughter the aliens or preds as they came at us....We were using smart guns, flame throwers and shotguns and it worked really well but we always ran out of ammo. Several other players saw what we were doing and tried to imitate us...but they kept getting in the way like right in front of us. Garyowen and I were set up in a hallway at the end with only one way in and were wasting anything that came down it, and we kept seeing this other pair of players, one a sniper one a rocket launcher guy set up down at the other end trying to imitate us. Their characaters kept looking in our direction as if for advice...I told them "get out of there noobs" but they stayed. So of course a wave of aliens comes at them, the sniper fires and misses and the rocket launcher guy fire his rocket launcher at point blank range effectively making it a "bomb-stick" blowing up everything including him and his partner just as the aliens start to tear them apart. This bit of comedy kept repeating itself in various forms until we had to quit for the night. 3) If an alien kills so many players in a row it turns into a queen...the queens are very powerful, huge, and can kill any[b]one[b/] else with impunity more or less....but it seems there is a mutual agreement between the marines, corporate, and preds that if there is a queen they drop everything and kill it first....the queen usually complains about how unfair it is that everyone ganged up on them....but of course the fact that they have vastly unfair strngth and damge advantage seems to elude them. You guys need to go get this game, its a riot...Best Buy has it for like $15.00 or $20.00 now. |

I tried the demo of it. It was dark in the room, and I had just loaded up AvPII for the first time. I thought to myself, "It is nearly 1:00 AM, I'll just play a quick game, and then go to bed. Suddenly I was sitting in a Marine fighting vehicle that had been damaged. My proximity sensor pulsing away. I could hardly move, I was so scared. Even though I know there wasn't anything within 30m, I didn't want to move from my seat to stir anything up. After I figured out the keys, I made my way out of the vehicle, and all of a sudden the proximity sensor started pinging. I promptly ran back into the vehicle, shut down the game, and uninstalled it! I had nightmares when I slept. I tried it again during the day and had a lot more fun though. I considered buying it, and may now that the price has halved. |

Oh man... This is the most suspense I've had playing a video game since unreal. And this is MUCH more intense. I've only done a little bit in the single player game so far. Most FPS games you're generally walking around finding stuff to kill... Here you're inching further up hoping nothing will show up to kill you! I started to get a bit at ease when I went thru a few places and no signs of any baddies... then BLAM... scared the crap out of me. I literally jumped. Ohhhhhh... I love being scared like that, sad that I cant find many movies/games that do it. I've made up my mind to only play it in the dark, with my headsets on. This has helped up my pulserate quite a bit last night and tonight. Thanks for bringing this game to my attention, I'm lovin it! |

Im pretty sure i can pick this up quickly as I used to play alot of FPS. Whatever good ones we can find...post your favorites. We generally like the Hunt, Survivor, and Evac games...Team Deathmatch is just chaos. The Primal Hunt add on is worht picking up too. |
