There was a small tragedy at my house tonight when my youngest daughter's Minecraft PE world was lost when I restored her nook that was frozen.
I reinstalled MC PE but her world is lost Poor thing is heart broken. I promised to get Minecraft for PC. My two youngest share a laptop If I install Minecraft on that laptop, can they each have their own world and will the world be backed up somewhere if I need to restore? Any other best practices I should follow for Minecraft? I did a google search but the MC stuff is all greek to me. I just know I don't want to see my girls so upset again. Thanks Monk |

Personally, I would get a minecraft realms server for $14 a month from Microsoft. It will let you have three worlds that you can switch between, and copying it to play it locally is really easy.
this is what I do for my daughter and my nephews to have a safe server to play on, BTW. |

whats a PE world? If they are playing single player their wolrd is just inside their minecraft folder under whatever they named it. It wouldnt be hard to back that up to a USB stick every once in a while. PE is the portable edition - the world was on her Nook (like a Kindle, but from Barnes & Noble), so unless it was copied off, it's gone. |

Yes, they can each have their own world. I believe the save files are in user\appdata\roaming\.minecraft folder. You can copy that whole folder some where for backups. Both of my kids play. My daughter plays the mobile version on her tablet. I setup a server for my son and niece to play on together for pc. |

I want to give them a safe place to play and ensure I can restore their worlds from back up. Would setting up a home server or paying for a hosted server really add to their game experience? Monk |

Monk Home server would give you 1000000000 more options for them and add to their gaming experience but its more technical. If its truly just for two people you could go through a hosting company and get a 2gb server for 2-4 dollars a month. |

Its a good way for them to stay in touch and play together. |
