Would someone tell me if you can disable the credits that popup every time you shoot something? That crap is a deal breaker for me.

Its how many points of damage your weapon is dealing. You will get used to it and even like it as you get more powerful weapons.

I know its there but I never 'noticed' it. I can see where it would be weird if youre not used to it, but I love seeing 170 followed by a red K at higher levels :)
