Kharn View Quote The module terminology makes me think the 600i might, somewhere down the line, be capable of being refitted for different roles, so it might get back some of the versatility factor that the Phoenix brings to the table, but that takes a re-fit back at your hangar. I personally don't consider that to be versatile, actually, just modular. That's about all I care to speculate it on at the moment, though. |

Considering other than my Mustangs and Avenger, none of my current hangar ships are flyable, I melted a few to pick up a 600i. Which will in turn get melted with the credit being held for other stuff later on.

So as a heads up, you can't repurchase the 600i if you melt it. Reddit is talking about it now.

So I'm currently at 2 Mustangs and a Nox. I'll likely unmelt my Avenger and then sit on stuff until either they are going to kill unmelts or the game is further developed. At launch at minimum I'd like my Gemini, Redeemer, and possibly DUR or Terrapin, but will call it at that. If they fix the 600i unmelt issue I might buy mine back, but if not, no real loss to me. I'd rather have the $400 to put into an AR build as I was gifted a lower this week. |

I'd take the 600i over it in a heartbeat. Styling is better. Armament is better (or can the Constellation mount size 5s with no gimbals?). Currently contemplating melting my Polaris for the 600i.....and then re-buying some of my melted ships. How are the 600i w/ Exploration Module capabilities compared to those of the Carrack or Aquila?
The 600i exploration module features two manned scanning stations, a deployable ramp for an exploratory ground vehicle, an Origin-created Rover and SCU storage for any artifacts needing to be stored once discovered, so it is a solid option for explorers looking to purchase a stylish alternative to the Aquila, while the Carrack should provide a much longer term exploration base and facilities. Is the 600i w/ Exploration Module’s 36 SCU of cargo space when carrying the rover or when not carrying the rover? The figures are based on the ship cargo capacity while not including the Rover. The exploration module not only has the lift for the rover, but also space for the additional SCUs. Why are there no Point Defense Systems similar to other high-end luxury ships like the Phoenix and 890 Jump? The simplest reason is variety. We wanted to explore different defensive options for this particular luxury ship. For this reason, instead of a PDS the 600i features two remote turrets, so in the instance that the ship is fully crewed, and your gunners are up to it, they will be able to ensure your ship stays protected from threats. If automation is your bag, you will be able to equip them with an AI module, which will help defend your ship if your crew are unable or unavailable to assist Can the 600i be flown effectively solo? The 600i is, fundamentally, a multi-crew ship. However, for its size is probably one of the most solo-friendly ships out of the box. By utilizing unmanned remote turrets and capable shields, a skilled pilot should be able to effectively pilot the 600i solo in most regards. What agility can we expect from this ship versus the Constellations considering that the 600i has more than twice the mass of RSI’s ship? This is especially important since the 600i comes with fixed guns and no gimbals. Whilst the 600i may be faster than the Constellation in a straight line (more on Thruster ratings in a later answer) it will suffer in its maneuvering due its bulk and size. The fixed weapons that come default can be swapped out to gimbals like other ships. How many missiles can the Origin 600i carry? In the brochure the 600i is stated to carry 16 S3 missiles yet the website states 4x S3 pylons with 16 missiles each (total of 64). Or was this just a misunderstanding and it can carry either 16xS3, 32xS2 or 64xS1 missiles? The perils of active development! To clarify, the 600i has 4 missile racks that can hold 4x S3 missiles each, giving a grand total of 16 S3 missiles for the ship. Will the 600i Explorer have a medical area? The 600i does not have a medical area no, due to it not holding a huge crew, this would be a room that ended up potentially being used rarely. |

I've completely lost interest in this game. Seems to me that at launch (should that actually happen) everyone basically paid RL money for 5+ ships with LTI and the game will be the equivalent of every second person on the road driving a Ferrari.
Regardless, I bought a package like 2 years ago that included the Constellation for $250. I was stoked, now I just keep wondering what the fuck was wrong with me for giving them $250 for a video game that basically didn't exist. I don't even remember how to log in; but is a Constellation from 2 years ago better/worse/exactly the same than what you can buy now? Is there a bonus for getting in that early and its somehow sought after, or is it basically worth less than current versions because they've probably changed the entire game 10 times and they already have my money? Would love to just get the 250 back. |

So it's the same Connie that you can buy now, just bigger and fancier ish than when you bought it a few years ago. Then again, the game engine has had huge upgrades, etc. You do you though. IMO the game is still going to come out, and if they can put out 50% of promise, it'll still be awesome. |

Kharn View Quote So out of curiosity, whats the Connstellation 'designed' to particularly do now? Originally (and we all knew it would change) it was supposed to be one of the, if not the most customizable non-capital ship where there were already thoughts of it being a long range missile boat to being spec'd out to basically hit/run pirate board people with a boarding party that it can carry. Again, no idea anymore as I haven't followed. And for the people mashing keys and gnashing teeth over 'muh star citizen!1!1'; notice how I asked about value (you know, the free market concept in a secondary market?) and not an actual dollar to dollar refund. But hey, some people are just sooooo analytical. |
|
Not just what you ask, but how you ask.
Connie hasn't really had a specialization since I first encountered the game in '12. There's a cargo version, an explorer version, a GP version, and a luxury version. There are ships that do each of those things better, but few that do all of them better. No idea at this point whether you'll be able to swap modules to the degree that you can mimic, say, the explorer with the base hull. I never liked it myself. Players will only ever be 10% of the universe, so even if every one of us ponied up for an Idris, we'd still be a small part of the overall population. Also, the scope of the game has expanded enormously over the course of development, and we're already seeing (in alpha) things they told us might take years beyond commercial launch to see. In simple terms, they need money to fund this expanded development, and the only way other than to sell out to a AAA publisher, is to sell ships/pledges. I'm a well known not-fan of the cost of the newer ships, but I realize that they have to give at least perceived value for the money they're asking for. I'd kind of like to see smaller accessories added for smaller payouts, but the market has spoken, and they've got buyers for the new ships coming out. Of course, things like the Nox and the X1 aren't exactly game breakers, and I suspect that guys who're ponying up $40-70 for them are going to be smacking their foreheads once we get launch and they realize how cheap they'll be in the finished game economy. If you're not seeing value, bail. No harm, no foul. You've already been appraised of venues where you can get some or all of your investment back. |

Concierge has been in the first wave for a long time. I forget when they made that change, but basically, one of the devs dropped into the concierge chat asking who was online with a fast connection, and was adding us individually to the authorized player list for a non-public-PTU test. I suggested just adding all concierge backers to the early PTU list since there were so few of us and made us instantly available vs manually adding to the list. Next patch, first wave invite rather than waiting until the third or fourth wave as I had previously.
