I didn't want to totally hijack the few threads Torchlight has been mentioned in, and I didn't see a thread of its own

I got it this week and finally installed it last night
definitely can tell the original Diablo crew was involved, even the music is similar

I like that the dungeons respawn after a while, especially since I'm having issues saving up enough gold to buy cool stuff. Being able to go back in and get more gold and loot to sell is good.

Right now I'm playing the warrior guy. I have a decent staff that does elemental damage, and I just started dual wielding some pistols, one of which gets me 9 hit points on each hit so even though they're not as powerful their useful

I really like having two weapons layouts, it no only frees up some inventory slots it makes it really easy to switch between melee and ranged

I just got a frost spell for my cat. Now he's really tearing stuff up. I also just started using the skill that summons an archer. That's nice when you're fighting a bunch of guys in a narrow area and they have to come to you

Sending the pet back to town to sell stuff is also a welcome feature. There were times in the original diablo where I'd have to trek back and forth 3 or 4 times to unload everything I had found in a level

I have a feeling my weekends will all be spent playing this non stop

Anyone have any mods for it?

Be looking for Torchlight II, which should be coming out soon.

Adds multiplayer, which is welcome.

Amen.  I really wanted to play Torchlight with my brother (since we never got to play Diablo together), but alas...

I can't wait.

My favorite, to date, dungeon crawler...evar.

Wow, after 67 hours so far I didn't realize you can give pets spells, damnit, back to the game....

T2 will be epic, I have no doubts, and it will be $20...

D3 will be an afterthought for me, yes I'll get it, but Torchlight got everything right that D1 and D2 didn't.

It's funny, before I found torchlight for a good year or 2 I gave up on PC gaming.  I think I installed joined Steam to try out this game, now I have a handful of Steam games I haven't even tried yet.

I'm currently holding parts to my next gaming rig in my newegg cart mainly for this game.

I just hope they come through and release it before D3.

Torchlight was a great game, however I never really put in a lot of time, probably 20-25 hours.  Other games got in the way, but it is a good time killer when you don't really feel like playing anything else.

open your inventory and the pet's (or just the pet's if you've already of floaded a spell scroll from your inventory into his) and drag the spell you want them to learn to one of the outer squares under their picture. they can have 2 spells

right now mine has frost (I think that's the name, it shoots ice missiles) and one that summons a flaming swoard that goes out and attacks stuff. Put my pet on offensive mode and he goes to town ripping stuff up and is using the spells effectively

you can give them rings and necklaces too, I'm not sure if they have to be special pet ones or normal. I'll try that out today

Scary isn't it.

I notice a lot of the criticism of D3 is the cartoon-like/wow-like graphics.  Torchlight IS like that and I actually enjoyed it.  It's obviously a game that doesn't take itself too seriously but is a crazy addictive loot d-crawler.

If you like Torchlight than you probably love Dungeon Defender.Dungeon Defender is tower defense + Diablo action game. Very fun to play.

I don't really like the cartoon look but I can live with it.  My biggest criticism of D3 is the fact that I will need an internet connection to play.

TL is fun.  I also like how it has a 'netbook' mode.  And yes, it runs just fine on my acer netbook!

Looking forward to TL2.  And D3.  But, yeah, 20 bucks versus $60.....
