| Has anyone else tried it yet? I'm at chapter 6. When I heard about some of the changes they made from the previous games i was a bit worried I wouldn't like it. But after playing it I find that most of the changes aren't that bad. The two that get me are how linear it is and the fact you really don't stop into any towns. all your shopping is done at save points through shops you unlock usually by beating a boss. For the combat system my gripe is if the player controlled dies its game over instead of perhaps hoping that the AI will use a phoenix down before they get killed. |

I was hoping to see a review here....worth it in your opinion? Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile If you life FF style of games then yes its worth it. The one thing nice about the battle system is that its not all real time like 12 was but rather what i consider a good blend...everything has a ATB gague composed of multiple segments. the segments when all are full constitutes as a turn. However with your character you can hit a button and use the segments that are already filled. In short it looks like real time battle but isn't. One thing I dislike bout the game is that each character will only have one summon; each summon is a boss battle requiring certain actions to win. Thats all i can think of to say right now. So far i like the plot line I'll just have to wait and see if they decide to go full retard on it |

On the topic of Final Fantasy..anybody looking forward to FF14 Online? First I've heard of a 14th FF. Supposedly due out at the end of this year. As far as I know they are in alpha testing right now. PC and PS3 only. http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/ |

it wont stop getting linear until about the 10th chapter or so. It's not all that bad IMO and if you are a fan of the series I think you will enjoy it. If you never played a FF game, don't bother. anything like ff7? I don't think FF7 can be outdone. I've tried a bunch of them since I originally played FF7 back on my PS1, none compare. Quoted:

It's tough; I really liked FF7, but FF10 and FF: Tactics are up there too. FF8 has a good story, but I hated "drawing" magic - though overall, the junction system was neat. |

I like it so far. I am basically a FF n00b though. My only other experience with the franchise is on DS, and I mostly suck on those.
A couple friends are big FF fans, and they also like it. They do say it's a bit 'simplified', but they also said it's simplified in a good way, making it more focused and faster paced. I am not very far in yet. Just got to the Odin fight with Lightning, and haven't got past him yet. I think I know what to do though. (it has renewed my interest in the DS games, and I'm really wanting to get an old PS and a copy of FFVII to see what the hype is all about.) |

My first impressions of playing FFXIII are that the game delivers on eye candy, and that the battle system is good at being challenging when it comes to figuring out effective patters but it does flow well. However, the linearity of the story so far is not very much fun. Perhaps I'm getting too old for the franchise, or too accustomed to the gritty storylines and themes of Fallout 3 and its amazingly explorable world, because the game seems to need a little more sex and blood. Sure the characters are attractive, but something is off in the way they interact, and the "romance" between the guy and Lightning's sister is nausiating. I don't mean that the game needs anything explicit, but it was really hot when Rikku gets out of the water when she's first introduced in FFX, or it's intresting in FF8 when Squall's teacher seems to be hitting on him.
While I like the political themes, the story is missing any identifyable Villian so far. While I understand that the game has a focus on the inner conflicts of the characters, it doesn't seem like a ROLE PLAYING GAME anymore. Does this story ever reach a middle? I've played more than 10 hrs and it still has the pacing of a preamble. It feels like some kind of anime saga, that you get to play the battle parts of, between endless successions of cut scene/cinemas. Additionally, I wanted to play the game without having to purchace the exhaustive manual, as it should be fun with or without. I deffinetly played FF10 with the guidebook nearby, but, I was hoping to use the internet as a supplement, and only when needed. |

FF7,FFT,FF9 are the best ones in the whole series. I could never understand why anyone would like FF8. Im forcing myself to play through that one. Everything is just "wrong" from drawing magic, pacing, weak charachters, summoning, stupid looking gunblade that has no barrel.
The PS3/360 need a new Suikoden and Tactics Ogre game. Tactics Ogre is the only other SRPG with FF Tactics i ever truly liked. |

The book is very nice, full walk through, character and class guide, weapon upgrades, paradigm builds, all the skills in the crystarium, etc. |
