Oh sure...give me a frakkin' pistol. Bastards.
Sure, I get to a pulse rifle. And later a Shotgun. And then I get to trade the shotgun for a flamethrower. And then I find the major. FFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!! Fuckers. A couple more beers and I'll try again.

Ive been wondering about that game, is it any good? I remember the old PC version Bought it on a whim, today. Not too bad, dark as crap. The campaign is staged...as in at certain points it will stop and then ask you if you wish to continue as your current chosen (am marine at the moment) or, continue the alien or predator campaigns. Yeah...interesting idea. It's pretty good overall, but...am not deep enough in it to say how good. Graphics, etc, are average for the Xbox360. Frakkin aliens are mobile as hell, though. Haven't run into the predators yet. Though they are definitely in the neighborhood. |

I might have to rent it now, I need a new game. The aliens use every surface. Though when close they tend to drop down first, and though it gets painful, you can hand-to-hand to push them back. Grenades for the grenade launcher are worth thier weight X100 in gold. Though part way through you still get knocked on your ass and lose your 'extra' weapons...ie: Pulse Rifle and shotgun. And got to find them again. Head shots are king. Though several times I was backpeddling and spraying to get room, or going hand-to-hand to reload. I'm just an average gamer...so I die...a lot.

I've heard the game is "OK". Not great. Not bad. Reviews consistently say it doesn't have the same inspired level designs of the original, & feels a bit canned. Apparently, the pred is rather underpowered in the comparison, an attampt at "gameplay balancing". That's a trend in game design that I'm really developing a real growing hatred for. The contrived "balancing" that is done in the area of weapon designs is particularly annoying in "HALO", as an example. The weapon designs are so damned contrived for a fixation on "balancing" that it sabotages the "military" theme. The scoped HG, while fun, was an example, but not the worst. The Assault rifle w/ dedicated "light" instead of an underslung grenade launcher was - & is - STUPID. Designers do this kind of stuff & it just mitigates the fun factor.
The COD series gives the full equipment. M4/M203, SCAR-H, it's all good. They seem to be able to give the player the full capability loadout & still deliver the gameplay. I'm still trying to figure out why the guys @ Bungie can't/won't do the same, & why the guys @ Rebellion apparently didn't either. I hope Gearbox is able to finish "A:CM" & deliver a resoundingly good package. The "Alien" license has been begging for a quality game. |

Finished first go around with all three. Working on second. Found that some of the critters will come after you differently, the second go around.
Not always, but enough to make me smile a bit. Good renter, or to purchase 2nd hand. I bought it new and like it. |
