What should be my target percent for a healthy guy?  I'm 36, 6'2" and 195 lbs.  I have finished one round of p90x and am half way through a second.  My BF is at about 17%.  What number can I realistically get to and not go superfreak healthy on my lifestyle.  I love ribs, brisket and beer.  That's why I workout as hard as I do.  Just wondering what reality looks like.  Thanks.

IMO 12 is pretty easy.

10 isn't hard.

<10 you have to start working at it to reach/maintain.

You are already in what is generally considered the healthy range. 12-15% shouldn't be too hard to reach or maintain (especially if you keep doing that P90X)

I guess everyone is different.  I'm 5' 10", medium to skinny build. At my most healthy and in shape (chicks digged me), I was 14-16%, 160 lbs.  I only dipped below 14% a few times and the diet restrictions necessary for that just weren't worth it.  My goal was never to be an elite fitness ninja, but just to be able to run a few miles without passing out and look good to the opposite sex.  15-16% achieved that for me, and I could still drink myself stupid or eat five pounds of spagetti on occasion without crying myself to sleep the next night.

Seven posts in five years and you reply to my thread.  I am puzzled, but honored.

If I could have a sig, that would be it.

At your ht/wt that is a decent body fat. It shouldn't take to long to cut it down to the 10-12% range, but you're evidently on the thin side so I would bulk up first.

This is a great graphic to give people a general idea on body fat percentages....

Staying under 10% is going to be a real bitch for any extended period of time.
