What pull up bars do you use at home.

I have some funky old door frames that don't allow any of the ones that attach to the top of the frame or hang on their own. No space for a dedicated peice of equipment pull up bar. So I got one of the screws right into the inside of the frame kind. Simple, cheap, holds real well.

I stole this idea from another member.

1 piece of 2x6
6 lag bolts
8 wood screws
3 sections of steel pipe
2 pipe elbows
2 pipe flanges
Prob took half an hour. to put it up. Its bolted into the I-beams in the ceiling.

Edit: Its hard to tell from the pic but I lag bolted the 2x6 to the ceiling then used the wood screws to attach the pipe flanges to the 2x6.

Wow that looks great.

I recently ordered a tower that I hope works out well for pullups. My only concern is that it might wobble a bit.

I especially like the pose-down mirror.  I like to keep a headless cut-out of Jay Cutler around that I occasionally transplant my melon onto when the garage door is open and neighbors are walking by.

I tried one like this but it didn't fit the doorways here. I've tried it somewhere else and it works well.

I was probably that member. I love this pullup setup, works great and holds a shit ton of weight. I'm in the process of moving right now and will post pics of my new home gym later on.

Haha. If you look close you can see writing all over the mirror. I am constantly writing shit on it with a dry erase marker. Usually related to my workout. Things I want to change or goals etc. Sometimes its completely unrelated. I can write it down and put it out of my mind and get back to communing with the iron.

I installed a "perfect pullup" bar in my sons door frame last summer.

We both use it and like it. It seems to be holding up very well.

Here's what you get in case you're considering a tower. I'm putting it together now. Hmm. Some of the parts are bent out of shape, and there are quite a few marks. Not quite what I had hoped for.

I had one of those cheap combo pull-up/Roman chair towers. Uneven porch concrete caused it to wobble a lot, and the backrest for the chair grated my knees when doing pull-ups. You could probably sandbag the feet to give it more stability.

I have one of those door-frame hanging ones, too. It works pretty well for the $30 bucks an ex-GF paid for it 12 years ago.

It seems to be even but I can't help but hit my knees on every pull-up. Well, live and learn I guess. For right now it'll do I suppose.

When I'm facing away my knees don't hit although feels odd for some reason.

Yep, same problem with mine. I personally like the setup shown above (in the garage pic), although I can't do palm-out pull-ups anymore due to a shoulder injury.

No pic, but I've got a 1" black pipe that is in between two of the joists in the basement.  I drilled a hole in each joist and stuck the bar through.  Easy and cheap!

I did the same thing.  Maybe $30 worth of pipe and joints and screws.  Worked great!

I've had an Iron Grip tower for over three years now.  Gets used daily for push ups, dips, leg raises, pull ups and chin ups.
Still in great shape for Chicom equipment.
