Got a bit irritated at the track tonight and I'm curious if I'm wrong for being annoyed.
I've been running for a few years now so I'm pretty familiar with how runners behave on the track and street. My buddy and I do speed drills on a local 10-lane NCAA track every week during public running times when there's a pretty good mix of runners, walkers, kids, etc. Tonight we did 4x800's at about a 7 min/mile pace at about the #5 lane so we were running, not super fast but far from walking. There was a group of ~6 guys doing what appeared to be 400's at about 6 min/mile pace. Definitely not part of the track team, probably an intramural or student group. The group was also training in my lane and came up from behind unknown to me. Most of the guys ran around us, but what appeared to be the trainer, literally bumped me out of his way. Now the way I ran, if I'm about to pass someone or come in contact, I'd at least say "passing" or "excuse me" or simply run around. I got pretty irritated, but just bit my lip and took advantage of the adrenaline. So, am I just grumpy and this is quite typical? Or would you have also thought WTF? But of all the years I've run, I've never been shoved out of the way, even when I inadvertently walked on the inner lanes. |

For someone to run into you, no matter what setting unless its a physical sport is wrong.
If it was me next time he came around I would have turned around and faced him and dropped lower than him. The lower man wins when it comes to take downs and he would have been flat on his @ss. But this probably would have started a fight. he was 100% wrong. |
