Been lifting 3-5 days a week, 2-3 hours per day, for about six weeks, with a few missed sessions here and there. My routine borders on overtraining, but I watch my gains carefully (have gained weight and strength and my lifts have been going up daily, if not weekly). I get 8-10 hrs sleep per night and eat 4000+ clean cals a day.
I'm going on vacation for 8 days. I'm thinking of finding a gym where I may lift two or three times during that time. Or I could just take a break flat-out and sit around and do nothing. Any recommendations? |
| I wouldn't take a COMPLETE break, but switching to some bodyweight exercises and whatever the hotel gym has wouldn't hurt. Pushups, situps, air squats, etc... I have a set of resistance bands that connect to a door frame that can also provide a compact traveling workout kit. But it's a vacation, enjoy it, just work out enough that you won't feel like a complete bum. |

If you are bordering on over-training, taking a week off is probably a good idea. This will give the body time to heal.
Something else that will promote recovery by getting blood to flow through your muscles is getting a massage. Since you're on vacation, you should think about doing this. Of course, if you are going with a lady friend, see if you can get one from her every day. Have fun with that |
