im a fairly fit guy, been lifting weights since i was 19 or so, and at 21 i was bench pressing 320, leg pressing 890 or so, and curling huge weight....  at 6'1" and about 198 pounds. i developed a shoulder problem so i backed off of the heavy bench pressing.

so the weightlifting went on, i never gained more than 5-10 pounds, then got too exhausted from work ( tree removal ) and didnt lift for 9 months.

now, im back lifting and it feels awesome. i havent lost much strength to my surprise.

im 205 or so now, and spent the winter doing a whole lot of nothing.

i have one thing that has always bothered me, i would like a flatter chest / more of a square pec area. i wouldnt go so far as to say i have "bitch tits"   but my chest isnt as flat as i would like. its solid, just not flat.

my current chest workout has been pretty basic, flat bench press, and flys in an upright seated position.   would it help to add in the incline decline bench, or what else ????

thanks

The square chest thing is sorta genetic.

You really have to do a lot of exercises to get a good looking chest.  The biggest problem most guys have, is their proclivity to measure their dicks via flat barbell bench.  The problemS with this are, it leads to injury, and probably isn't the best exercise to build muscle mass.

dumbell >barbell>machines
incline>flat

Wanna big chest?  For the next 3 months, don't do flat barbell bench, and don't touch a machine.  Start with incline.  Do decline once a month.  Warm up.  A LOT.  Lift heavy.  Pre-exhaust your pecs with flies, then bench on occasion.

Good luck!

What good does it do to do ANY exercise only once a month?

Flat chest is mostly genetics, but tightening it up is about 75% diet.  You can push all the weight you want in any direction but your best bet to get rid of moobs is diet and lots of cardio, even if it makes your maxes go down.

Inclines, declines and pullovers. With weight, lots of weight, thats how the middle of your chest got big... you just need to get the top and bottom to catch up.

Just as a change of pace.

Yes, I am suggesting decline barbell bench is virtualy useless.

Listen to this man, he speaketh the truth.

In about 6 weeks of doing these little twisty pushups from Hell, I noticed a huge difference in strength and stamina. It also brought a more defined, flatter chest. I took a week off when I vacationed in Texas two weeks ago, and last week was killer with school, but i'm starting up my training again, and you can bet i'm going back to using these things.

I wasn't. They're probably the best 40$ I've ever spent when it comes to physical conditioning.
