So I'm reading about these upcoming Congressional hearings on steroid use in baseball. There are proposals to pass new legislation on stiffer penalties for the sale and possession of HGH, but also they are wanting to make DHEA a controlled substance. From a USA today article... A second proposal by Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, would make it illegal to sell dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) to anyone under 18. DHEA is a naturally occurring precursor to testosterone and a dietary supplement that some athletes are using as an alternative to illegal anabolic steroids, Grassley said. What is this DHEA stuff? Has anybody used it? |

DHEA is just another naturally occuring steroid in the body. I don't know why they're pushing to control it since there has been atleast one study concluding that it has absolutely no impact on mass or gains. If idiot "athletes" would just stop trying to play chemist and focus on pride, the scientific community wouldn't have to roll its collective eyes at every goddamn piece of controlled substance legislation that comes down the pike. EDIT: Could only find one study. Wikipedia of all places. Effects of dehydroepiandrosterone vs androstenedione supplementation in men |
| Thanks, AGW. I'm not a supplement expert but I do think I know a little - so I was surprised they singled out DHEA as something they wanted to control. I'd never heard of it. You would think creatine being so popular it would be the next logical target, not DHEA> |
