What are a few of your more notable physical fitness accomplishments?  Things like continuous push-ups/pull-ups, long distance runs or bike rides, swims.  Anyone thru-hike the Appalachian Trail?  Bench Press half a ton?  Pull a fully loaded C-5 down the length of an airstrip?

Consider this thread you chance to brag.

I won my age group in my first Triathlon.

10m Mountain Bike
3m Sea Kayak
4m Trail Run

1:46

Suprised the hell out of me since we did a staggered start and I was in the last heat.

Personal best? 3 bi girls 1 king size water bed, but that's when I was in my mid 20's.

Oh, wait, you're talking about working out...

I got nothing. I'm 35 y/o, 5'8" and down to 196 lbs.  I'm slower than I've ever been, my joints ache, but I'm the strongest I've ever been.  I have a 1 rep max of 315 lbs on the bench.

When I was younger, high school wrestling (112 lbs weight class SR year) and being an Infantry Marine (140 lbs / 29" waist)  kept me in shape.  Now I lift and trail ride my mountian bike (when the weather is good.)  That's all I really got.

In college I ran a 19:00 5K.  Not fast, but not bad either.

A few years back I could jump and grab the rim on a basketball net with both hands.  Considering I'm short (5'11") and have a bad case of "white man's disease", I consider that pretty good too.

In high school I swam a 2:02 200M freestyle, a 1:10 100 Back, and a 4:45 400IM (may be 4:50, can't remember any more).  I could also hold my breath for just under 4 mins.

At 9 I shot my first 25 straight at trap (shotgun) and (different shoot) made high team at an open shoot (I was also high junior, but there were only 3 or 4 juniors shooting).

About 10 years ago, I (on a drunken bet) did 30 pullups with 35lbs tied around my waist.

My marathon and half marathon times (ran my first marathon a couple of years ago) have been unimpressive, but I ran those to finish, not really for time.  I'm still working on that... once I get out of physical therapy I'll be working on more speed work for the 2009 marathon season.  I still have a bit of pride that I was able to train for and finish 26.2 miles.

Being 34, and one to take pride in my physical fitness, I honestly can't say that I've accomplished anything too spectacular, either.

Within the past few years, I've done 750 continuous push-ups (one long, palms hurting set), have been able to muster 34 pull-ups, can do about a 5:30 mile, and have peddled my mountain bike down to the Rhode Island border (about a 60mi round trip.)

I still haven't ran in a marathon, done a triathlon, or hiked the Appalachian Trail like I've always wanted to do.

But it's good to have goals to stay in shape for later on down the line.

Did a 5:21 mile not too long ago if that counts....

Nothing spectacular, but I cycled 104 miles in just a hair over 5 hours last year at age 39. That was ride time only - I had 3 stops to refill drink bottles and grab more eats (probably about 5 minutes per stop - I had to stretch a little before resuming).

When I was 29 years old and at my peak I would run 6:00 minute miles for 5-6 miles a lot faster then a lot of the younger guys in my class.

But right now I am happy to be 43 years old, lost 51 pounds, back to running 7:00 minute miles for 3 miles can still do 15-20 hanging pull ups and 93 push ups (in two Minutes)

I and my wife are quite amazed that after being out of the military for 14 years I was able to pass the Physical without any waivers, pass the weight standards and pass the APFT with no problems....

I am in the infantry at 43 !!!!

I am quite pleased.

Nothing really worth bragging about.
Most I ever benched was 325.
Most I ever squatted was 495.
Most I ever shrugged was 405.
Most I ever standing military pressed was 185.
All of those were several years ago.  At 41, with bone spurs in my shoulder and carpal tunnel surgery, I max my bench at 300, squat 315 and press 155.
Most I ever curled was 135 and I can still do that.
Most pushups I've done at one shot is 100 and I can still do that on a good day.
Most situps 200.
Furthest I've ever run is 13 miles.
Fastest I've run two miles is 12 and a half minutes.
Fastest I've run three miles is 19 minutes.
All of those were when I was in college.  I haven't run more than 10 miles since I graduated and my current three mile time is closer to 23 minutes.

The most difficult part about those long distance bike rides, is the sore ass, ain't it?  But I suppose something better than the racing seat I had on my old mountain bike would have made my own excursion slightly more enjoyable...but then again, maybe it wouldn't.

Let me know when you find a saddle that doesn't eat your ass after 50 miles or so

To make matters worse, I had to ride 84 miles the next day to get back home - I don't know how those tour riders do it for weeks at a time w/o turning their ass into hamburger.

Um, I found one....  My wife didn't like her seat on her mountian bike.  Her seat was uncomfortable for her.  I swapped it out for one of the big wide couchy seats from Bell.  It looks acquard, but before I let her ride her bike, I took it for a spin with the new seat.  It was super comfy.  We did a quick 10 mile and no soreness.  I ended up switching over to one on my mountain bike.  I only use it for hard pack trail riding, nothing agressive, so it works well.
