I recently began having troubles chewing with my rear molars, as lower teeth/jaw are no longer able to retract backward enough to meet the upper molars. Im almost 100% sure its a TMJ issue, as my jaw has always clicked when i would rock it side to side, move it all the way to the right it would lcick, move it all the way left, and it would click. no pain was ever present when this happened. im not sure what caused this recent development, maybe jiujitsu or horseing around with the girlfriend. basicaly its only painful when i bite down fairly hard with my rear molars, or if i try and get my jaw to be alligned with the upper teeth, and be in the retracted back position like when you bight down and the rear molars contact on both sides of the mouth. the oddest part is that in the morning after sleeping, i can tough the rear molars together again, and there is no pain. I am calling my dentist first thing tomorow morning, but i would like to hear from fellow ar15.comers who have dealt with this before. im only 24, so this is concerning to me as this would be miserable to live with. |

Had it once maybe 15 years ago. In my case the pain occurred whenever I moved my jaw. It wasn’t excruciatingly painful, but enough so to continually make life miserable. Utterly no idea what prompted it. Anyway, I vaguely recall my dentist giving me a prescription for some sort of medication, though I don’t remember if it did much of anything. I’m pretty sure he also recommended some exercises. After a month or so it totally disappeared. I’ve never had it since. Sorry I couldn’t help more. |
