I'm two months shy of 26, 5'11" and weigh 208lbs (as of this morning) with a body fat percentage of 24.4%. My sugar and cholesterol levels are good as is my blood pressure. I take this to mean that I'm "mostly" healthy. However, I would like to be at 180lbs with a body fat percentage of about 11% by Christmas. To this end, I put together a balanced, 2,000 calorie/day diet with the aid/guidance of a nutritionist. I eat every two hours or so and I'm never hungry with the exception of at night (see other thread). My unnecessary consumption is barely anything at a 12oz Sugar Free Red Bull and a 12oz Diet Coke every day. In the morning, I exercise for 20-30 minutes. MWF I lift weights to tone my upper body. TTh, I run at a 6mph pace and I am working toward getting it to 8.5mph. Since starting this, I have lost 1.2lbs per day which I know is not sustainable. What else should I be looking at to help lose weight? |
You need to be patient. As long as you stick to the program, you will continue to lose weight in fat. There is nothing else that I would recommend you do. Your 1.2lbs per day of weight loss is not sustainable only becuae you eventually won't have enough fat to lose at such a fast pace. As your body fat decreases, so too will the speed at which you lose fat. As you progress, your weight loss will likely begin to look more like 1.2lbs per week. That is normal and healthy. |
I don't expect to sustain the 1.2lbs/day loss but I would like to do what is feasible and realistic to keep the loss at an accelerated rate. |
I can't tell you how long you'll be losing weight at that pace, however, if you've got a lot to lose, you can expect it for a while. That said, you're already doing everything possible to lose weight short of popping pills and scheduling consultations with surgeons. Don't fret and just focus on being the most proficient athlete you can be. A much more patient endeavor. |
