I need some good insulation for the cold. I havent really worked out in the cold but I have worked in the cold. I am looking to wear the least but keep warm the most. This means my carhart jacket wont work

So far I have found under armour cold gear

What else is on the market? Is there anything I can buy where I wont be paying for the name?

ETA: working out in the cold means riding a bike (no bike shorts) and hiking and basketball

Like a base layer or outer layer or all of it? What kind of activity?  Like running, xc skiing, snowshoeing?

I'd say look at mid-weight polypropylene from REI and Patagonia Capilene for base.  XC Sporthill and Hind make great outer layers for high activity levels.  Mountain Hardwear, Arc'Teryx and other outdoor/mountaineering brands make great cold weather athletic apparel too.

Based on the edit:  You want breathable so I am thinking softshell jacket/top.  Tight weave nylon like Schoeller.  Most of the brands I listed will make something perfect.
Legs are harder.  I would wear something different for riding and hiking probably.  If I had to have one for both I would go with my Mountain Hardwear Schoeller loose-tights.
