I am just getting back into running. when I run i get mild cramping in my lower legs. The cramps are on the outer side of both legs. (i.e. Right side of right leg, left side of left leg). It isn't my calves and it isn't shin splints.. Any ideas?

Not shin splints you say, they don't hurt when you push on them. Sounds like maybe the minor type of shin spints.
Try eat more bananas, and stretching your calves more.

Sounds like your muscles are low on water or sodium.

It may be muscular dehydration, or it may be some mineral deficiency (potassium). As long as you stick with it, your body will adapt either by forcing banana and water cravings on you or by just getting over it. Just stick to it.
