I have dicovered that try as I might I just do not eat enough to take in all the protein I should in a day.

Is whey protein a safe alternative?

Yes, but it is an acquired taste, at least for me. It is easier to eat lowfat cottage cheese and yogurt mixed together for me. The whey has a chalky taste that really turns me off.

I've used whey protein powder and egg white protein powder...both in vanilla flavor, mixed in smoothies made of OJ, Berries, Bananas, vanilla lowfat yogurt.
After a workout, they're an excellent way to feed the muscles you just worked.

Check the fat content of the powder.  About 15 years ago food scientists found a way to take a lot of it out, but the price was exorbitant so the people who are selling you the product at retail might be using the high-fat product.

My after work out shake is:

1 container of either vanilla or cookies and cream muscle milk (has 64 grams of protein)

1 banana

3 low fat oreo cookies

all blended together

"Oreo Madness" from the gym I work out it.

Mine only has 1.5g per scoop. I can live with that.

How long after a hard workout does your muscle growth need a high protein boost?

If I workout every other day should I cut off the whey drink after so many hours after workout?
