I have recently started to seriously lift weights (I was on-off for the past few years) and my trainer recommended that I go out and purchase some protein supplements to go with my workout.

Are there any that you guys have tried and recommend? I walked into my local GNC and was instantly overwhelmed with a gazillion choices they have on the shelves.

Thanks

GNC is a massive rip-off. Checkout Vitaglo or Vitacost

This is a great site for info: Protein

I use All The Whey vanilla Isolate for my protein and Isopure vanilla or peanut butter/chocolate for my meal replacement.

I use Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey for fast-acting protein, right after workouts.
Just ordered another 10 pound bag at http://www.supplementwarehouse.com/ for $47.98, which is a good price for that item.

For my casein protein, I eat natty peanut butter or low fat cottage cheese.

BSA Dessert Protein is AWESOME!

I have the Banana Cream and the Chocolate Pudding.  Both are great flavors.  It sounds gross, but I mix it with rice milk.  Too much soy milk can screw with your testosterone production and if I drank that much cow's milk I'd be on the can 6 times a day.

Try it, you'll like it!

Do not buy from GNC, they are a ripoff. There are tons of cheaper places to buy better stuff online for about 1/2 the cost.

I use Nitrean myself.
Very happy with it. Mixes easily with both milk & water, tastes great too.

I see HUGE jugs of protein mix at China-Mart all the time.

I remember reading the label on one and it wasn't loaded with sugar or anything.
