I'm in the market for a treadmill. I belong to a gym and use the treadmill there 3 or 4 times a week but having a treadmill at home would give me the option of doing cardio in the morning before work and on days that I'm not at they gym lifting. I'm planning on spending about $1k but can swing more if I get a lot more for the money. I'm considering this treadmillIron Man Treadmill I like that this one has a 60" belt (I'm 6'4" and 240lbs) so the larger belt is a big plus as is the 3.0 CHP motor. Anyone have any other recomendations? |
| If you are willing to spend about $1500 get yourself a bodyguard t240. They retail for 1899 but I sold a butt load of them for 1500. Warranty is 10 years parts and lifetime on motor and frame so youre covered for a long while. And unlike the costco jokes you can actually get them repaired. Smooth/spirit are decent treadmills but the smart money would be on the spirit line considering you can get service if it does break but the xt800 costs about the same as the t240 from bodyguard. It doesnt have the best specs in the world when you look at belt width and horsepower but the build quality is head and shoulders above anything else below $2k. You really arent going to find a decent new treadmill for 1k so its worth the investment. treadmill doctor is probably the best resource out there for treadmills. |

Thanks for all the replies. I bought the Iron Man treadmill from Costco. The Costco no questions asked return policy sold me. If anything happens I'll take it back and get a refund or exchange. For the price I couldn't find anything comparable (Motor HP, belt size, Foldability). The fact that it was under a grand shipping included sealed the deal. Hopefully I'm not posting again in a few months about the bear of time I had getting this treadmill into my vehicle to take back to Costco but I'm not suffering any buyers remorse right now.... |

crap, looks like i didnt catch you in time. i do not want to sour your purchase, but my father has the exact same treadmill and he has broken 2 of the baseboards on the unit. he said screw it and bought a woodward(expensive as he**) he is 195ish and 6'2" and is a hard runner, he made the house shake because the treadmill was on the second floor. now i have the ironman treadmill in my place as i did not have one previously. its a good treadmill for the money, but will take its toll when used often |
You mean woodway...which are expensive as hell...starts at about $7K |
| For whatever reason we just recently sold a used woodway still in good working order for about $300. I dont know what sort of kickbacks the owner got out of the deal but I was shocked to see it go for so low. We still have a couple more of the $9K units around for about $1500 or so. You could be 500lbs and run on it everyday and it would still work like a top 10 years from now. |
sunnof a i wish i had found this out sooner! i might have a buyer for you on one though, my uncle needs a better treadmill as he has shin splints. how used are these units? |
