Caution long story: About a month ago my daughter received call while at work that a dog a red pit bull was attacking her goats. By the time she got home it was too late, her 4 H prize winning Toggenburg female and one sheep was dead. Fortunately a neighbor has witnessed the act police were called charges filed, county was suppose to pick up the animal for destruction. Fast forward 30 days later, and after multiple calls to animal control no one had picked up the dog, and my daughter receives another call, the dog is back and attacking. By the time she made it home the dog had already killed her two Toggenburg females that were pregnant; the dog was in the process of attacking her llamas. Her response was she shouted get away from my animals, her second was BANG, she has her CCW and carries an S&W 649 .357 now she is out several thousand dollars of pedigreed animals that she uses to help supplement her meager income. Rant: If the county had done their job, and they were called 3 times this would not have happened. Good thing: My little girl shot to wound to get the dog away from her llamas and it was a moving target, then she pursued it though the fields and as she was running she shot it two more times, and again a moving target. Result no more red pit bull, I am so proud of her for her actions. When she turned 21 someone asked me if I was going to go buy her a drink and I replied No I’m going to buy her something that might save her life someday, so I took her to the gun store and said pick out something and she chose the S&W, good choice. |

the dogs owner is liable, expecialy since it was a repeat offense. hell the state may even be liable as well. as much as i hate lawyers and lawsuits, this is a justified case where you should not have to eat the cost of the lost animals. you might not even need an atorney, just write some very perswasive and sugesting letters that if you arenot reimbursed fo rte animals charges will be filed and they will be for far more than the animals worth as it is causing you distress over their loss and worrying about where the future income will come from

Or, just put the blame where it belongs, the owner that didn't properly supervise and control their animal. I don't know about there, but around here, 1 aggressive act, especially against other animals, unless it is horrendous, won't get a dog put down. The offending dog owner also has rights to appeal the "death warrant". |

It is NOT just a pit bull thing! The same thing happened to my mother, but the offending dogs were a german shepard and a yellow lab, from 2 different neighbors. They all deniged everything and swore "my dog wouldn't do that". Their insuriance won't pay if they denie it. The owner of the GS chained it up after that, but the yellow lab came back. My mother blew it's head off with a 12ga! Neibor moved away soon after. |
| I wanted to add: I came out a few months ago and found a jack russel terrior killing my cats, I tried catching it and it was snarlling and trying to bite me, so picked an old wheel barrel handle and started beating the shit out of it. By now it was over by the fence trying to escape and the dumb bitch owner was trying to get it back onto her side. I beat it half to death right in front of her and basicly said "your next bitch". I'm waiting to see it again, it won't make it home next time! |

I was attacked by a pitbull and it ripped up my Northface jacket before the homeowner pulled it off of me. I had my knife in my hand but I was inside of the dog's house so I tried to kick it off instead of killing it. I didn't do anything to it, I walked in and upon seeing the dog stuck both hands out with open palms for it to smell me and it just jumped at me. I hated pitbulls before that even happened, I wish they would be exterminated. I know CA had some kind of bill at one time that was trying to outlaw them. |
