| What's the scoop on this stuff? Is it really good for heart health? What about taking this with creatine and amino acid supplements? |
I really could not tell you if the claims they make for it are true! I did replace my vitamin A supplement that I take with meals with Omega 3 fish oil. Holy shit do I taste it when I burp, reminds me of when I was a kid, and my mom used to shove a tablespoon of cod liver oil down our throats everymorning, yuk! I take it with meals and Aminos inbetween so I have no problems with both! Don't use Creatine though, so I cannot comment on that!! Creatine, any brand, gives me gut cramps and the shitz so I stay well away from it!!! |
|
When you took creatine before did you mix it with water or just take a spoon full and drink water with it? I take creatine all day, I mix a little with each glass of water that I drink....so I have a constant supply instead of just loading up all at once. This may or may not hinder the performance aspects of creatine, but it sure helps with the gut problems. |

Omega 3's are great for the heart and blood vessels, I use it daily. I have tried several brands and this one is without question the best, no fish taste or burps at all, it also has antioxitents added to it to keep it fresh in the bottle (very, very important) www.carlsonlabs.com/product_detail.phtml?prodid=10025836 Info...www.americanheart.org/presenter.jhtml?identifier=4632 Also, take it easy with the Creatine, it puts a strain on your kidneys. |
Tried it in tablets, tried it in water, tried in it carb drinks. All had the same affect. Good friend of mine is like you, takes it all day long and loves it. I guess it might be an allergy thing, I dunno! |
Thanks for the link!! I'll definately give it a try! |
Haven't read that much about it, I know that it is supposed to help with the metabolism of fats, Carbs, and protiens, and give an energy boost, and increse mental focus. Ex-wife, and a few of the gym ladies swear by it! Try giving Google a try on it to see what comes up, should be able to come up with something on it!! |
I use it everyday.I don't know if I can see any difference.Maybe in time?I have been taking it for about 3 weeks.Looking at the known benifits it certainly can't hurt. Also,it just kinda tasts like oil.No flavor. The brand I am taking is Spectrum Essentials. It's organic.I buy it at Publix supermarket. After hearing some of the stories of the fish oil tasting so bad I figured this would be a much better way to go. |

I was taking a pharmeceutical grade Omega 3 fish oil for a while and felt I really noiticed being able to focus better, and overall just "felt" better. I've been meaning to start taking it again, I just haven't bought it in a while. You do have to have the high grade stuff though; from what I have been lead to believe standard fish oil is not filtered for mercury |

this is the best stuff I've found www.coromega.com real fish oil, with ZERO fish taste ... it tastes like orange "push up" popcicles you can get a free sample here www.coromega.com/06Free_Sample/Free_Parent.html |

human body canoot synthesize omega 3 or omega 6 fatty acids. to be healthy, you must control the balance between two fats. the level of this was okay, until commercial mass production of oil came out using hot press. people are consuming too much omega 6 fatty acids. so take omega 3. Really cheap and nice source is from those "salmon" cans. They are really cheap, and you can make salmon + flour + spices (croqquttes or whatever they are called). Pills are overpriced nutrients you can get from foods. (human bodies make omega 7 and omega 9 fatty acids.) |
I don't necessairly agree that you can get everything that you need from food. Might be able to with Salmon, and fatty acids, but it is pretty well known that our soil is depleted, and vitamins and minerals need supplementation because of it. BUT, I did not realize that we get too much Omega 6 Fatty Acids!!! HMMM, so I would gather that the capsules that they sell that say Omega 3 and Omega 6 are a waist of money, that we don't need the Omega 6, we get too much already? That's good to know! I also did not know that we synthesize Omega 7 and Omega 9 Fatty Acids!! See I learn something new everyday!! Got some links to read up on? I'm interested!! Thanks! Edited to add: I hate salmon croquettes, I'd rather swollow the capsules!! I'm not a big fan of fish in general, but that's just me

I can't stand fish, I never eat seafood, of any kind. The coromega stuff I linked above tastes great though. If you read up and decide you want to take one of these supplements ... get a free sample from them and try it out. zero fish taste, zero fish burps |
check out this book. http://half.ebay.com/cat/buy/prod.cgi?cpid=1196522841&domain_id=1856&meta_id=1 this the book we are using right now in our Human Nutrition class at UGA. Fairly recent 2004 and has tons of really really good information. |
the gist of it is that in order to get the oil into useable form your body has to do some conversions (for flax oil) for fish, it's already converted, but the risk with fish oil is that if you go with a crappy supplier, you could end up with more heavy metals in your deit then you'd like (mercury, etc.). So, afaik, get real fish oil from a good company (or eat lots of fish) and you should be good to go. get a free sample from that link I posted above and see what you think |
