1571 so far....far behind my goal for the year, but the weather is better so I expect to catch back up on mileage.

I just got out on my real bike, for the second time since early July (the 1st was just four laps around a perfectly oval shaped, 1/4 mile road section) and road two miles around the neighborhood, mostly on sidewalks with a lot of curves and sharp turns. Not only was it uncomfortable from a heart/lung perspective, but also from the positioning aspect of being on a bike and even just controlling the damn bike! I was actually missing turns and curves, at slow speed, and running slightly into the grass. Toward the end of the ride, I started getting my precision back, but it was awkward at first. It did feel good getting back on the bike and I hope to ride a lot more actual miles than I did last year. |

Favorite local pub is owned by cyclists.. the Wednesday night ride is always a treat. 20 miles and then free beer. It was Covid cancelled all last year so tomorrow will be the first beer ride since fall 2019 ..whohoo

Quoted: I will be doing the Tulsa Tough also Master 40+ 3/4. It will be my first time doing it. I am heading up Thursday with the family and travel trailer...will be there a few days then head to Colorado, New Mexico and return. I am looking forward to CryBaby Hill. View Quote I got an airbnb for the weekend about 2 miles away from the first 2 courses. I got 2 cycling buddies and their wives to split it 3 ways. Last time I was there they gave you free beer if you have racing numbers on your back. Soundpony Bar is a great place to watch races from and they are all cyclists. Crybaby Hill used to be like Mardi Gras (yes as in females flashing tits at you) . Either way, I'm fully vaxxed and ready to enjoy a little life. Sounds like you are too. |

Wet crit this last Thursday. I did the Cat 4/5 then right after did the Cat 3/4. The 2nd race almost got into a wreck on lap 13....
Finished 10th (out of 39) in the first race and 16th (out of 68) on the second. Driveway Week 2 Cat 4/5 4/15/2021 Driveway Week 2 - 4/15/2021 Cat 3/4 Next week I am not sure if I am racing since next weekend I have a stage race and I rather not wreck in a weekly crit just before a stage race. |

View Quote That really is a nice course...ours is a pan flat abandoned metro airport tri-oval with all left turns (rights when we switch directions) It has no trees and cracks in the corners that will shake your fillings loose. Since 2019 (my last time racing there) they've built a small neighborhood in that area so it should be a little nicer. We used to start in April but this year we don't start until the end of June. hope you didn't drink too much rooster tail riding in the wet. |

Crockett Classic Stage Race in Crockett Texas
Did a Stage race last weekend...Race the Cat 4/5 35+ Masters (Dads racing group). About 70 started the race. Stage 1 was Saturday morning at 0800 it was a 50.8 mile Road Race...wet ground rolling hills. I was in the front 20 the whole time to stay out of the crazy in the back. I finished in the pack around 35th or so. Stage 2 was Saturday afternoon my start time was 1516. 7.9 Time Trial. I did this with my crit bike with aero bars and helmet. I did it in 19:47 and got 20th. With that I was 19th overall GC. Stage 3 was on Sunday mid-morning at 1100, it was a 48 mile Road Race, dry with rolling hills and a wind. Once again I was in front 20 most of the time to cover anything...I was the front few at the finish sprint, but ran out of gas right at the end. There was a huge wreck right in front of me. My team mate when down hard and cracked his helmet in half and was really out of it for a couple hours after. I came in 14th in this stage. I got 17th Overall GC for the race which is not bad since I am about a month behind my normal training....and crits are more my thing also. My team mate even after the huge wreck got 8th overall GC. I said I wasn't chasing miles this year, and yet ...
I was 19.4 miles short of 500 so decided I was going to get a 20 mile ride in to hit 500. Ended up riding 22... 502 for the year now. |

This week's driveway. Got 4th again and 2nd in 40Plus. Last last has a wreck.
