That looks pretty cool...

Does it work as a HRM too?

I bought a Polar S210 a year ago.  That is my regular HRM/watch.

sorry, no HRM, but that would be a pretty cool thing to have on the next version!

This thing is pretty cool.

did a few laps around a local lake (1 mile circuit)

It tracked the first 2 laps pretty close to the surveyed markers, last lap seemed to be 'off' (short) by about 120 feet or so (GPS calculated 1 mile).

I finished my last lap to the starting point and stoped the stopwatch.  I was at 15:51, just UNDER my maximum goal of 15:54, which is the 2 mile max time for airborne school (17-21 yo age group) (I'm in my late 30's, max time for age is 18:18) [:)]

I pray my body holds out!

anyway, back to the unit...

I came home, hooked it up to the computer and uploaded today's info.  Pretty cool logbook software. Lists all your laps by date/time.  You can see a 'map' of your lap, it showed the outline of the lake I ran around pretty good.  This thing (logbook software) will also has a linear altitude display for the course you ran.
there are also charts for your pace over the distance of the lap or the speed over distance.

lots of info to digest, lots of features I have yet to try out!

anyone wants a logbook screen shot, let me know :)

Only thing I've noticed with my GPS is that the distance reported only takes into account the 2d coordinates.   Obviously, if you are going up/down hills you are actually travelling more distance than the 2d coordinates alone would indicate.   Granted, my GPS is an older model, and since monitoring the distance your feet actually traveled would seem to be a core feature of this particular GPS, perhaps they take that into account...

IF you decide to get one of these, make sure you visit the Garmin website for it...

that is where you get the logbook software and firmware updates for the 201. AND make sure you sign up for email updates to software changes...Right out of the box, my firmware was "old" so I updated it. Yesterday, via the email notification, I found out they just released a new firmware update.
