Still stuck inside with single-digit temperatures, snow, and ice. I can't wait to get outside, my mileage should be better. I also have a new Garmin Forerunner on the way, so I am really looking forward to getting all of the data from that. I am still a pretty new runner, and I've never had a coach. I like learning this stuff, and I'm hoping the extra data can be put to use. My FitBit worked well for the past year, but it is pretty limited in what it can tell me. |

Didn't wake up early enough to get all my miles in at once today, but I did manage to get in two shorter runs to make up for it. I found out that the fluorescent lights in my garage won't turn on below 10°. |

Hah, I will run in the cold, just not the snow and ice. I'm a wimp after falling twice on the ice in the dark. I went with the Garmin 935, overkill for me, but I really liked some of the features. I've spent the evening trying to get it set up for tomorrow morning. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

3 miles at marathon pace, 2 at half marathon pace, 1 at lactate threshold. |

So far, I really like the 935. It is very similar to the fenix from what I understand, the fenix has a few extra mapping features and looks different. Otherwise the same basic software. Until I really get outside for multiple runs, some of the stats won't be really accurate, but it is a huge step up from my fitbit.

I've been running I the treadmill set at 2% grade. My calves are getting sore! |

I'm doing some HIIT circuits for an upcoming Tough Mudder. It's really cutting into my miles. I have a few rest days coming up though. I plan to make at least one of those days a good run day.

I ended up with a couple bonus miles because a road didn't go where I thought it would on the way back. |

View Quote I know this probably isn't the thread for it, but I sure wish I understood more about how to use the data from this watch. It tells me so much but I don't think I am using it to the full capabilities. I did the pre mapping to navigate through a trail run the other day though... Thoughts on what else it can do besides the basic information and navigation? |

@bigbear_98 I just did my first outdoor run with the watch, so I am just getting an idea of how to use it. I like to watch the detailed heart rate zone information the most, as it can give me a good idea whether I am training aerobic or anaerobic, and also whether I am pushing my lactate threshold. Ultimately, I notice the most improvement when I run intervals, and these watches can also be set to guide you through interval workouts with the ability to watch your heart rate while you do it. Some of the other data like ground contact time and vertical oscillation seem to be of limited usefulness. The recovery time estimate is interesting, because I definitely overworked my self yesterday doing a 45 minute spin class with my wife before my weekly long run (tapped out after just over 7 ) , and it is estimating that I needed over 50 hours of recovery time before my next hard workout. I won't give it that long, but I feel like that might have been fairly accurate. |
