So I started marathon training a month ago, and now that the time has changed, I find myself running around my neighborhood in the dark for periods up to 2 hours. I normally wear my operator cap (has velcro areas on it) when I run, but I realize that I need something reflective on my person to increase visibility to drivers.
Is anyone aware of any company that sells velcro patches that are reflective? Most I can find are infrared, which doesn't help me out with most headlights haha.
Any help is appreciated.

You could make one yourself; heavy duty Velcro, in the size you want, combined with reflector tape, would most likely do the trick.

Get one of those safety vests, they are light, not restrictive and can go over your clothes
and they are reflective and bright as hell.

Trust me, you aren't visible, make yourself BRIGHT and no way could someone not see you.

Yeah I was looking at some reflective tape and velcro, just thought I might be able to find something cool.
Not wearing a vest - already have my phone, running pack, LC9, and heart rate monitor.

would you rather be smushed?

have you noticed how shitty people drive?  and totally unaware?  in the damn day?

now make it dark and something appears out of nowhere, or they honestly never even see it.

People's night vision sucks, their inside of their car is too bright and they aren't good at it (most people hate to drive at night)
they drive the same road all the time and just go on feel.  A dark moving shape won't even be seen.

Ever go to truck stop?  it's well lit (usually) and there are guys walking around (back and forth to the shop usually) and trucks are moving pretty slow.  And yet mostm EVERYONE is wearing a vest of some type.  Not because they have to but because they dont' want to get run over.

Passive is ok as an augment, but I prefer active.  Something like This

Those flashers are much at alerting idiots behind the wheel than reflector tape.

And they work if someone forgets to turn his lights on

I agree on the active lighting thing.  I run with my Surefire or a Streamlight in my hand at night.  I can always turn my light on, but you can't turn off a reflective vest.

Certainly not when you find a need to operate operationally in your non-permissive low-light runvironment.

I run with my headlamp most of the time and a couple of Amphipod Flashing LED Reflectors one on the back of the headband strap and one on my waist. I figure the vehicles approaching from the rear are the ones that will kill me. This plus the lightest colored/or reflective clothing I have.
