i'm cramping like crazy in the middle of the night.. only in my calves and feet...  i eat well...pretty well stay hydrated... in pretty decent shape.. middle of the road active.. 3 kids.. 6' 3"  200lbs +/-... only drink coffee/water/beer... not necessarily in that order.. anyways.. last few night i have been up 2-3 times a night.. have been a little stressed lately.. eating pickles and pickle juice.. store bought and homemade sweet pickles... i drink a big glass or water before i go to bed every night and first thing in the monring as soon as my feet hit the floor....... anybody got any suggestions...ideas...anything..

p.s.  no health problem, no surgeries..never been hospitalized..Mid 30's..

i think that covers it all...

These are very salty IMO and may be causing you to dehydrate.

See a doctor.



Cramping that doesn't stop with traditional remedies makes me nervous.

Could be simple dystonia, electolytes, etc...







Could be bad like als, or other motor neuron disease.

How much water do you drink per day and how much do you pee? If you don't have the water/salt balance right you could be peeing it all out. Do you wake up with cotton mouth?

thanks for all the info... spoke with a dr.  was recently on 12 day prednisone... dr..says normal for coming off..and to up electrolyte intake amongst other things... so..that's what i'm going with... did not know prednisone would do that..don't need meds alot..

We always drank pickle juice during the heat of the summer and summer workouts when we cramped. It sucked but worked.

Salt will do the opposite, it will cause your body to retain water.

If OP is cramping, try getting more calcium and potassium.

I woke up this morning to my left calf completely cramped. It took about 20 minutes to relax and is still sore now. I drank a good bit of water today. I hope it doesn't become an issue.
