I think it's retarded that they call it fasting. Basically, the people I know who preach this just don't eat anything after dinner on that particular day, then don't eat breakfast the next day. Then they eat lunch. So they're basically just missing breakfast, which tons of people do every day, but just had no idea how cool they were. The word fasting will never come out of my lips unless I'm describing someone else.
ETA: no opinion on whether it works or not since I haven't tried it. |

I've dropped from 218 to 180, and now back up to 185. I'm no longer able to work out fasted though due to new job schedule, but it is a good plan and I found it much easier to control my appetite using it. |

You IF already every day whether you know it or not. I did IF for about 6 months. I was CFing at the time, and not lifting much at all- not good programming. I was fasting about 16 hours a few times a week. I got EXTREMELY lean- easily under 10% likely 8%. If you're looking to bulk up, it's probably not a good option. If you're looking to get strong, it MAY be ok depending on if you can work the schedule around it. If you're looking to lose fat and preserve muscle (or even build a modest amount while losing fat) it's a pretty good choice. Be sure to take BCAAs if you're going to workout fasted. |

I tried to "fast once" I lost mass. I eat 7-12 small meals a day. It sucks having to eat so damn much. Its hard to reprogram to eat like this. If I skip one meal, I swear I lose 5 pounds of muscle mass. I tested my theory with the bod pod a few years ago. Sure enough, I fasted and lost 2-3% of my muscle mass. It showed in the gym as well. I lost 10lbs on my squat after a week though I was back to normal. Could of been laziness as well but Im blaming fasting. ![]() Just eat what you are supposed to and forget the rest. Unless you are doing what roland said above. Follow his advice. |

I skip dinner occasionally for other reasons, so I "fast intermittently" sort of inadvertently. I have read a few articles lately that point to reasons it might not be a good idea for women though, can screw with the monthly cycle among other things. As with anything, YMMV. |

I've been fairly successful with IF. That said, I work out at night generally so my last shake and carbs are around 10:30 PM. I drink a two scoops of protein about 36 to 40 grams of protein with coffee in the morning and then don't eat until lunch.
I've been getting leaner, lifts still going up and weight going up. |
I've had good success with fasting. The biggest thing for me is that if I'm fasting it's easier for me to control my calorie intake. Six small meals a day and I'd eat 10,000 calories
Otherwise, I don't think it's anything special. You can eat one meal a day or twenty meals a day, so long as your nutrition is on point I don't think how you do it is that important in the big picture. |

I fast for two meals on the first Sunday of each month. However, this is for religious reasons. (I'm Mormon. We donate the money saved on the meals to go to those who are less fortunate). Typically, I skip the Sunday breakfast and lunch, and eat a regular dinner. |

I do IF. 16 hour fast, 8 hour feeding. When I do 5-6 small meals a day, I am fucking hungry all the time. I hate it. With IF, I eat from 11am-7pm. I am only hungry from about 9:30am-11:00am. I lift 3x a week at 5:00am. I workout with 2 scoops of BCAAs and 5g of creating mixed in about 32oz of water. About 9am, I have 1 scoop of BCAAs and 5g of creatine. IF has allowed me to keep making gains in strength and muscle, but has also kick-started fat loss, too. It's been the best of both worlds for me, and I recommend it to anyone to at least try. |

I do it occasionally. I'm not sure I've noticed any health benefits besides weight loss though.
Usually, I'll eat lunch, skip dinner and then skip breakfast. Seems easier than trying to go all day from morning to night without eating. It's just make it to bedtime and then make it to lunch, boom 24 hours. I find that when I'm eating a primarily Paleo type diet, I don't get hunger pangs like people on a more carb centric diet. I feel more run down than hungry, never a gut cramp or anything like that. I "know" I need to eat, but I never really feel hungry. |

Introduce too many carbs into my diet, and I get these ravenous hunger pains...Paleo oriented diet, and I get stomach rumblings that go away with a glass of water and thats it. |
