I need some recommendations for running shoes. I've Googled information but I feel much of what I read is more of an advertisement for a certain shoe than a recommendation of what I need. I've always used ASCIS Gel running shoes in the past but I am developing hip and knee pain. It isn't severe and I have started doing some yoga designed to help the hip (which I believe is the reason for my knee pain.) I wouldn't be surprised if I had some arthritis in my hip, it has always been my 'achilles heal' ever since I had kids, anyway, I'm due for a new pair of running shoes (this pair has over 800 miles on them! Get your gait analyzed at a running store in case you have excess pronation or supination or something. If you have an issue like that and wear footwear that doesn't help or exacerbates the condition your body geometry can get screwed up causing pain in your knees, hips, and even back. |

Quoted: Gosh we don't have that option around here. I have to order my shoes online. We have JcPenneys and Walmart. If you ever go to a place with running stores etc plan to stop at one. It's worth it. I have excess pronation which I didn't know about until I was putting on a lot of miles doing some amateur adventure racing. Once I found out and got the right footwear it was a big difference. |

Damn, you must be in the boonies with all the running stores in OR. We have a member here who works at a running store in Corvallis and I'm sure he'd help you out. Where are you? |

Pendleton which is +200 miles from Portland. I am on a mission to run a half marathon before I turn 50 (mid August) let me know if you hear of one. Not too wild about running in Bend, the elevation might kill me. Quoted:

Yep, I know Pendleton. Obviously a long way, but the Portland Marathon is pretty cool. I ran it in 05 or 06. Good luck |
