| I have a friend who's 20-something daughter is looking to build up her trainer résumé beyond CrossFit certifications. What O-lifting classes and/or certifications are available out there in the wide world? |
I got to do the Xfit weightlifting instructors course as a participant. Burgener was scheduled to be there, but canceled. Maybe it would have been different had he been there, but I was not impressed. Too much, "let's get smoked doing some junkyard dog, then try to snatch......." Really, it was two days just barely glossing over the basics with an award at the end. 99% of the class, myself included have no fucking business trying to teach someone the classic lifts.
Depends on where she's at, but here's a few I know about. Greg Everett has a program: http://www.catalystathletics.com/cert/certification.php Travis Mash (training Jon North now) http://www.mashelite.com/seminars/ Cal Strength does Level 1 USA course. (This would be the cert to get) http://californiastrength.com/store/seminars-and-clinics Klokov is gone now, but that would have been the one. Klokov, Ilyn and Polovniko. If she's near Ohio, got to hit the Arnold late this month. |

Yeah, IMO the CF cert is pretty good IF you already know about oly lifts and want some more details It's NOT going to take someone from 0 to teaching. When I went I had already been working with coach B for months, so I thought it was good...but this is as it applies to CF too, not a "real" weightlifter. |
