So my day starts at 9am, and around 4pm im beat and there is still plenty left to do in the day.
So how does everyone combat this sudden onset of fatigue, minus coffee, energy drinks/shots?

Thanks

If you're mobile a lot of the day, food.  Just have a quick snack.

If you're behind a desk all day, get up, stretch, walk around.

Are you getting enough exercise during the week?  Enough sleep?

I surrender in the winter or get it done in the AM.  Summer, the longer day keeps me going longer.

Food, sleep, and mental will power.  Mostly will power since you're very well more mentally fatigued than physically fatigued.

Seven hours, dude? Really?

What do you eat? What is your physical condition?

I know that's my issue...I get about 9 hours of sleep a night and on good week I work out about 4 times a week for one and half hours, bad weeks I get a workout in maybe once. I eat decently healthy, no fast food, oatmeal or cereal in the morning, lunch, usually left overs from the previous days dinner.

Ok, since it still hasn't been brought up... What do you do for seven hours that you're fatigued?

It very well could be mental as in doing something that drains a lot of energy due to the stress/pressures of something you really do not want to do.  If that's the case, that's hard to change.  Had some experience with a consulting company last year that ran tests on employees to make sure they were good fits for their positions.  Personally I think those tests are BS, but they talked about being in a role that doesn't fit your personality being very draining and taking more energy since it doesn't fall in your natural comfort zone.  Just throwing out more ideas.

Or if you chop wood for 7 hours, well then that's understandable too.

Cereal in the morning isn't decent. Cereal is garbage. Try eating something like eggs and vegetables and fruit for breakfast and see if that helps.

When you say "cereal" do you mean fat free granola or Cocoa Puffs? Not that cereal is the that great of a breakfast. When you say "leftovers" do you mean mashed potatoes and meatloaf or steak and salad?

Do you supplement? Water? Stimulants? Intoxicants?

I think most of us on here are going to agree that a whole life/body change is the way to go. Clean living, eating, lifting, running.

Don't be vague.

I was hitting the wall about 2-2:30 everyday.  I started changing one thing at a time to see if anything helped.  When I cut the carbs way back at lunch I felt worlds better.  I got checked for diabetes after I figured the carb thing out. Dr. said I was OK so I just avoid a bunch of carbs at lunch and drink a little more water.

Sleeping 9 hours is proudly too much. Sign of depression?

9 hours of sleep would be a god send.
I usually get 6.5, maybe 7 hours sleep before I go to work at 7am. It is stupid difficult to get out of bed, but once I do I am ready for the day.

The only time that I get really fatigued and sleepy is on the 1 hour + wait in traffic to go to school after work. I don't get home till about 10 and can't sleep until 1130-12. Rinse and repeat.

However, I do find changing my diet definitely helps with the fatigue, although I have to submit to a 5 hour energy drink once in a while to keep going.

I'ts the carbs, standard american diet (SAD)

you get ramped up, you feel great, but then the carbs run out and you need more (like a heroin fix, but way more addictive )

Seriously, cut the carbs way back, you'll feel like $hit for a few weeks as you go thru withdrawal, but then the energy will be constant and endless.

I know, it sounds crazy but it works.

well im am a full time student so I class class from 9 to about noon and then 3-4 days a week I go to work from 2-9. so I would say its a mental fatigue as for cereal, lately ive been eating POPS lol most of the time its special K. as for left overs it depends, usually never steak, but a lot of chicken, today it was ham and macaroni. I don't drink a lot, maybe a beer a week <- literally. and I like my carps because when I do go to the gym they help a lot with my cardio.

Stimulants? Drugs?

Like others have said, play with diet. Pops are in no way acceptable food for breakfast IMO.

Steel cut oats, scoop of weigh, and half a cup of milk seem to keep me really full for a while. People are gonna tell me I'm wrong, but whatever. I used to eat whole eggs everyday. I'd eat five or six of them. Aside from the fact that I hate eggs, they don't keep me full. When I was experimenting with paleo for a while, a typical morning for me was five 80 calories eggs, 1/4 cup almonds, 2 cups of raw spinach, and a few sliced up strawberries. I was hungry again in an hour. Roughly 625 calories didn't fill me up. It might work for you, but everyone is different. Since the same advice seems to be repeated around here, I figured I would tell you something different and maybe that will help you.

Pops are horrible. It's all simple sugar. You're getting a sugar spike and than a crash.

Staying well hydrated can actually make more of a difference than you think.

Mint can also help keep you alert.
