| I cannot stand vegetables. The only one I can tolerate is corn on the cob. Still, I'm trying to improve my health, bit by bit. So, Is V-8 a good source of vegetable matter? Or would I be better off buying a juicer, and trying to come up with a healthy blend that does not taste like vegetables? Any recipies you would like to share? |

I was gifted a cuisinart 1000watt juicer. It eats everything and takes on whole apples. I will take a whole bundle of kale, spin, 6 carrot sticks, 3 apples, just a mix of things.
I know I wouldn't be eating the fruits and vegs that I need without this thing. I feel a crap ton better eating/drinking the food I should have been eating a long time ago. So I say Juicer. |

Plus V8 has a bunch of other crap that you really don't need. That's my concern. Each 11.5 oz. can has 25% of your daily recommended sodium; I need two can to get in the need veggie servings, so that would be 50% of my sodium intake right there. Why so much salt in the V-8, why I wonder. |

Alright man, time for the hard truth. First, corn is not a vegetable, it's a grain.
If you want to be healthy you need to eat veggies. Period. Juicing them just isn't as good, V8 is a mediocre substitution AT BEST. My 4 year old eats veggies, you can too. I didn't use to care for them either until I started cooking them better. Try roasting or saute in butter or coconut oil. Broccoli, asparagus and brussel's sprouts are all good this way. Roasted kale is amazing. |

Juicing is awesome. I made enough for the whole day in about ten minutes, carrots, apples, celery, kale, and cucumbers. I was NOT a veggie eater at all, no way no how, until I started juicing.
The way to make veggie juice taste less tannic (the bitter earthy taste you associate with veggies) is to add more apples. Granny smiths are my faves. I got my juicer (as I suspect many did) after I watched Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead on netflix. Started juicing, and the difference you feel is almost immediate and pretty incredible. Your body actually works pretty well when you get enough micro nutrients. Best part is that now I crave veggies. I eat raw celery and carrots for snacks all the time (a big carrot and celery stick will make you feel full, trust me). Watch the movie, get a juicer, and get to it. Also, Roland was right about just getting over it and eating veggies, food is for your body, not your mind. |

I should clarify- there is nothing wrong with juicing, but it should not be your only source of vegetables, it should be in addition to your regular vegetables. |

I used to not eat any veggies. I hated them and everything about them. As I became more active I started wanting them more and more. I guess my body was craving what it needed and as I ate more veggies I began to actualy enjoy them They don't have to be the bland shit that your mom tried to shove down your throat. Take just about anything and sauté it in bacon fat and Also, not to pick on you, but is it taught in school or something that corn is a vegetable? I have noticed many people seem to think it is. |

Quoted: No, I just assumed since it was composed of vegetable matter and was boring, that it was a vegetable. If it was composed of vegetable matter it WOULD be a vegetable....it's composed of "grain" matter for lack of a better term and is thus a grain. Vegetables don't have to be boring, cook some up like I described above, be sure to salt to taste and add some garlic too. Vegetables can be excellent if cooked properly. Even still it may take a little getting used to. Now go eat your vegetables like a man...

Having big ag teamed up with USDA and FDA it wouldn't surprise me to find out that it had been "moved" to the vegetable line. I'm sure some you have caught on, I don't trust any of those fuckers. I guess the husks could be eaten like lettuce

Christ dude, just eat some veggies.
If only eating something that i kind of didn't like the the hardest thing i had to do in pursuit of fitness. Roasted vegetable ragout: -1/4 inch thick slices or zuchinni and squash -about 1 inch x 1inch onion petals -thinly coined carrots coat lightly in oil, salt, and pepper. spread out on a sheet pan so the coverage is space and the veggies are not crowded. Throw in your oven on 500 degrees. roast them until the veggies start turning brown. I am yet to find someone that does not like the end result of this one. they are like veggie candy. Also, try veggies on the grill. the high heat caramelizes the natural sugars and they take on a nice sweet charred flavor, and kind of crispy. |

Dice up a bunch of broccoli florets, drizzle in a few tsp's of olive oil, crack some pepper, sprinkle some kosher salt, toss in a dash or two of red wine vinegarette. Toss that up nice and good, then grill some chicken breast seasoned with a little lemon garlic stuff, slice it up, throw it all together and eat it.
Bell peppers, onions, and garlic sauteed in a little olive oil (ALWAYS way undercook veggies), a 6-8oz medium rare steak. Chop some romaine, celery, and red onions, add a couple cans of tuna and a big glob of low fat cottage cheese, a bit of kosher salt and pepper. Awesome tuna salad, with no mayo. Eating right is easy. Just do what this guy says in this vid. Jack was DECADES ahead of his time, and trust me, once you start eating good whole foods, you will cringe at the thought of junk. |

My wife makes yogurt/fruit smoothies for my son and I in the blender. She puts flax seed & SPINACH in the mix. I can see the green flecks but my son has no idea he's eating vegetables for breakfast. (he's two years old, and if it's green it will not pass his lips at mealtime)
So the smoothies taste like raspberries, but we get at least a serving of vegetables too. |

After one week, I actually feel a change for the better. I'm having two cans of V-8 at breakfast, with a protein shake, and flax oil. 400 calories, fills me up for several hours.
Actually I felt better after the first day, but I'm not sure if that is really possible! But my mood is definitely better overall. The main drawback I see here is that now with the V-8s my daily carbs are now at 58, which is borderline for a "low-carb" diet. |
